Tau and Eldar are the strongest lists.

If you want the most competitive overall Codex, I'd say it is the new Space Marines or Eldar(basically, on a scale...which Codex has the MOST usable units and can still be somewhat competitive).

Farseer Faenyin
7,100 pts Yme-Loc Eldar(Apoc Included) / 5,700 pts (Non-Apoc)
Record for 6th Edition- Eldar: 25-4-2
Record for 7th Edition -
Eldar: 0-0-0 (Yes, I feel it is that bad)

Battlefleet Gothic: 2,750 pts of Craftworld Eldar
X-wing(Focusing on Imperials): CR90, 6 TIE Fighters, 4 TIE Interceptors, TIE Bomber, TIE Advanced, 4 X-wings, 3 A-wings, 3 B-wings, Y-wing, Z-95
Battletech: Battlion and Command Lance of 3025 Mechs(painted as 21st Rim Worlds)

This is probably one of the most discussed questions, but what do you think is the best army (could win the most games [consistently]) ? I know that there have been quite a few new 6th edition codex releases for armies like Demons, Tau, Dark Angels etc. What do you think is the most broken update? And finally what do you think the new upcoming Tyranid codex will bring, and will Nids get a large boost?

Just wanna hear some opinions.

You, my good sir. Have started the biggest fan war, EVA!

No you fool! It is CLEARLY Eldar supported by Tau!

I kid, of course, but those two are the best options pretty much...

Why Eldar and Tau?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Thanks for the research. So I am a Tau player and am always intrigued by different Tau builds etc. so I noticed that even though there were so few games played, Tau allied with Necrons won 100% of the time. So what would an army list look like for a Tau allied with Necrons build, and what would the strategy be behind it? (Yes I know that this is a very late question as the convo has moved on quite a bit but I'm still curious.)

Destroyer Lord - 2+, MSS

4x5 Warriors in Night Scythes

6x Wraiths

3x Annihilation Barges

Buff Commander

Kroots

Riptide

3x Missilesides with drones

That is probably how I'd run Necrons + Tau. The mobility of the crons + the firepower of the 2 combined makes for a lethal combination.

Numbers don't lie. It is what it is. However, I'd like to look beyond the numbers. IMO, the top 3 are Tau, Eldar and Necrons. IMO Tau (either Tau/Tau or Taudar, not pure Tau) makes for a more solid TAC army than Eldar. However, eldar with their wave serpents and wraithknights tend to matchup a little better against Tau in a head-on fight. Hence, Eldau/Deldar tend to do slightly better than Tau/Tau/Taudar.

However, the last turn objective-grab is probably one of the most broken mechanic in the game, especially in the tournament scene where time is finite. Eldar does it well, but necrons do it even better. Now the numbers don't really support me and I must admit that I am slightly biased, but IMO, necrons are truly the master of the objective grab and THE most balanced army in the game. The are good in all 3 phases of the game - Movement, Shooting and Assault - as well as being an ultra-durable army. IMO, they've got the tools to win it any time and against any opponent. The only thing keeping them from doing so is that not as many people run them anymore.
