I wear a Russian Vostok military wind up watch. Darn this is almost 10 years old and won't die. Love it!

Can we get a picture? Some of those Vostoks are really cool.

Tried out my Nighthawk on a leather NATO for a conference yesterday...I like the combo.

Since I hate having anything around my wrist and I had to work a secure area before (read: no personal electronics), I picked up a Victorinox Pocket Watch and used that for a while. I break it out from time to time.

I really need to get a pouch like that for mine - chances are I'd be confident enough to them actually take it out and use it more often if I did!

I've also a boring standard wrist watch for "normal" times or when I'm wearing stuff that hasn't got suitable pockets for a pocket watch.

Considering buying a replica Rolex Submariner to satisfy my curiosity and to decide if I actually enjoy the way they look on my wrist enough to save seven thousand or so dollars for the real deal. There are some very convincing replicas out there.

In reality, I'm only out of uniform a few days (if not hours, realistically) a week, so I don't really think I would get my money's worth of a watch that costs more than a few hundred dollars. Treating it more as a curiosity than a status symbol, I think I can spend the money on it.

Promised myself a new toy for receiving a research fellowship. I told the (now ex-) girlfriend this, and she thought I was nuts for wanting to blow that amount of money on a watch. Meanwhile she was expecting a $5,000+ ring. Pfft...

Anyway last year I applied and didn't get the fellowship. This year, I ditched the girl, applied again, got the fellowship, then spent all of the engagement ring money on this:

TOTALLY worth it.

Good choice.
I prefer the Speedmaster myself, but that's a nice watch.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

My family bought me a Torgoen T7 for my wings grad gift.

I needed something with an E6B, date, and second time setting for zulu time. Now its my daily work watch.

Not even half as expensive as some of these other gorgeous watches you all have, but I like it. Also weighs enough to crush a small child.

Solid choice man.

Yesterday I went to the Omega boutique in my area. Those guys treat you like a king - definitely makes you want to go back. Offers of coffee, beer, or champagne at 11 am are all definitely welcome.

I was on the fence between a Seamaster and Speedmaster and after seeing them both in person, definitely happy to go with the Seamaster. I'll buy a Speedmaster when they make a 44+ mm manual wind version with a sapphire caseback and hesalite crystal. Something about the oldschool style of the hesalite with the exhibition case back is dead sexy on a manual wind watch.

Wishing I was back at the South Atlantic, closer to ice than the sun

A simple Fossil for me,. Bought in Dusseldorf almost 15 years ago, keeps better time than my wife's Omega. Replaced the strap 3 times and I'd be completely lost without it.

I'm annoyed that I'd missed the KS for the watch for the blind as my stepmum would have liked it. Guess I'll have to wait for it to be sold retail.

Cheers

Andrew

Don't want to break the rules by necro-ing a thread, but it didn't make sense to start another watch thread.

Took the Seamaster into the depths in Montego Bay, Jamaica. "Hi, Dakka!"

Threw it on a Hirsch Tiger. It's part waterproof rubber, part leather. Hard to find a comfortable leather strap that you can still dive with!

Hi,
I'd like you my recent shopping experience on buying Sykla smartwatch at http://sykla.com/ The Sykla smartwatch is very stylish and elegant watch that would be an absolutely awesome fashion statement when worn.

This one is a Yobokies modified SKX007. Pretty cool auto but it's getting sold soon most likely.
