Big Lebowski

Speaking of overrated movies with horrible fan bases...

How is it overrated? I found it to be a genuinely enjoyable comedy film.

There's that vocal minority that does the "firefly" thing with others... You and I find Lebowski to be a good, funny film (it's a good while in between viewings for me), but I do avoid trying to "push" a film on someone as a must see, unless I absolutely KNOW that they'll like it (as in, their tastes in movies are extremely similar to mine)

It is an enjoyable comedy film, but not the greatest thing ever filmed. There is a religion founded upon on it.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I never said liked. I said affected by. I'm the only person I know who's been willing to sit through it more than once. Parts of it are so depressing, most people can't stand to see it more than once.

That makes me want to run out and see it... nothing says great movie than something that depresses you and makes you not want to watch it again.

But then again this is coming from someone who can't turn off Demolition Man when it is on TV.....

BTW, if you have seen the movie, its is 100% hilarious to watch on like TBS where they dub words over the "questionable content"

I think my favorite is when they showed Die Hard 3 and they keep shouting "Melon Farmer!"

And if anyone tries it they can join Lem Lee in the hell of being cut to pieces.

Indeed!

Now, the Last Starfighter...there's a movie screaming for a follow-up.

Scarface (1980's version) is pretty amazing when cleaned up for TV as well.

If there is in fact anything deep about Fight Club it's the films commentary on capitalism and how it affects all of us as a society. It could be summed up in the seen where Tyler is talking about how they've been brought to think one day they'll be big shots and they're starting to realize they won't.

Well, most Americans fail to realize the latter part within their lifetime, or consider themselves to be the exception.

Somewhat off topic I know b I'd like a sequel to Hackers. Would be interesting to see the character having developed over the years and face new challenges with better tech.

Fight Club shouldn't have a sequel. Tyler Durden died that night, and to try and drag him back would take away some of his power. In the book and in the movie he was done with. A violent ending for a violent man.

A sequel so terri-bad it didn't even need a Troll 1.

Just make sure you are wicked drunk prior to watching it.

Well, my guess is that, depending on how Chuck takes things, "Tyler Durden" could have been his real name (or not), in either event, it may not be entirely about "Narrator/Jack" as it is set so far into the future of his life, he's now married to Marla. Hell the story may not have anything easily recognizable as being "Fight Club" except for "Jack" and Marla.

So, something tells me that we won't really see "Tyler Durden" as we're used to him in this one, because you are correct, he is dead.

Consider your argument refuted.

Consider your content absent.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
