Oh, no doubt. I mean, how many kids carry expectations about sex due to watching porn? I know I certainly did. And, truth be told, that's unavoidable as media will always have an influence on any given person; especially if they're doing the whole "rebellion" thing.

Too true. I stumbled upon an article on Jezebel (one of the most frighteningly, absurdly feminist sites on the internet) that is actually calling all the hate for 50 Shades misogynist, which I thought was a laughable stretch.
The hint is in the name. But Jezebel isn't just feminist, it is a crazy hodgepodge of various feminist articles (from various schools of feminism) trying to be sensational because sensationalism generates hits, which means more of author X's articles will be published and with higher placement on the front page.

It's at this point that I must apologise on behalf of the University of Kent for having the author of 50 Shades of Grey as an alumni.
To make it up to you all, we also have Alan Davies as an alumni.
So you can't hate us completely....

All I got out of this was that women want to be ravished or dominated by a male that they find attractive and the majority of them prefer rough, almost violent sex. Sounds about right. Is this news to people? Please don't tell me there are droves of men operating under the assumption that women don't have intense sexual desires and they are somehow pure, virginal creatures. They are human too.

That's not exactly what they said. I've had women explicitly tell me that "even though I say no, I still really want it" or "even if I resist, I want you to...". That's why you establish a safeword and discuss this prior to acting on it. Some of them want to play out the "ravishment" scenario.
Obviously, jumping into rapeplay or BDSM with ANY girl WITHOUT discussing it beforehand is stupid.

But from what I have heard from people who have read the books ) they all said that their is more erotica in the first ten pages of a Harlequin romance novel than all three of the fifty shades of grey books combined. Not even that but the relationship between the characters is blown out of proportion, the critics make it sound that Mr. Grey is a sexual deviant but he himself is very hesitant to do the BDSM acts on the young woman and he treats her really well and with a great deal of respect. It is also mentioned that during his childhood Mr. Grey was sexually abused for years by I think his aunt or something and that why he does what he does mainly because he does not trust women.
But I have not read the books I have read some of them but got bored but everyone I know that read the books do not understand where the outrage is coming from or where people get this idea that he basically that the female character is a slave and is abused.
Al ot of the criticism of these books remind me of the backlash Bioware got for the sex scene in the first Mass Effect game many people jumped on the outrage band wagon with out actually playing the game or even seeing the scene

I'm not outraged. It just looks utterly stupid. The kind of stupid that transcends "so stupid its funny" to "so stupid you just want to spoon your own eyes out to take away the pain."

Except the first Mass Effect game didn't cause an increase in people wanting to go out and try to become an N7 agent without considering the risks.

I wouldn't classify that post as alliteration. I believe three or more words with the same beginning letter is required for it to qualify as such.
