I agree with you, after all most of our banking/currency/economy/infrastructure/ect is not dependent on the net, except wouldnt that be destroying the world, more then dominating it?

my idea of domination is more "I want to control the world" as opposed to wanting to see the world burn.

I would expect the major hubs that broadcast the internet, so to speak, would be hardened against EMP.

Then you have rival religions claiming you are blasphemous to theirs, people allied against you because they are non-believers and you also need to become the dominant religion in the world and not become the next Islam, where everyone fears you because you represent a threat to their ways. This way you definitely do present a threat but with you in control of their continued life, their children believing whatever you say because you have raised them that way, their money and security, they will obey you. An army helps keep order and gives them something back (security) and Propaganda helps change their minds about you. Because let's face it, if you offer even the most devout bible basher their only source of food, shelter and safety and their kids believe the sun shines out of your backside, they will quickly fall into line.

Offer change, be rid of opponents
Give medicare to the poor and impoverished of third world areas.
Population increases. Food production cannot match it. People starve.
Arm hungry people.
Take whatever is left, as a puppet if outright control is still not possible.

I don't quite see the point in "controlling the world". Let alone the fact that that would be impossible...why? If you can get a safe and wealthy life for you and your loved ones already, I don't see the point
