I'm taking the dinobot Mauler/Forgefiend joke to the next level. I just have no idea what I'd use it as, in game

Size wise, how does it compare to a knight, lord of skulls, a/o an actual titan (like a warhound)?

I think it's around about warhound size or smaller - here's a side comparison with a spare marine

Thanks! And don't feel like a slacker. I spent all of Sunday in the painting area while the wife handled all the kids.

Could anyone help me figure out where to put flames on my Aquila?
I want them on the wings, but because of the feathery structure, recessed panels and broken up shape, I'm struggling to plan.

At first I thought across the entire thing, then I thought maybe in the recessed panels, with the rest painted up normally, then I wondered about the end blocks running into the recessed panels...

Wing pic

It'll be blue flames on white, realistic style with an airbrush.

Started to write you could do red wings, realized you wanted blue.

Blue would look sick with a white. I think the recessed panels would be sick to paint as blue.

I'm more stuck on where to put the flames, sorry if I was unclear - I'm pretty spaced out today!

From the get-go, I wanted to do a phoenix theme, but my army is white uniformed, so I took a look at the WHFB frost phoenix.

Blue and white also fit with the inscription I chose for the Aquila - 'Caput inter Nubila' - 'she places her head in the clouds' (roughly).
It's a small jab at how stupid it was to take that project on.

Ok a bit of feedback please.

How do the highlights on the gold's and blacks look? Also sorry that the pic is a bit fuzzy.

They look good! He gives a real feeling of angry and hot.

I would say that maybe your exhausts need some form of heat damage, they look really clean and sparkly.

If you haven't decided yet, I'd suggest that the flames start at the base of the spines with white at the tips:

Couldn't work out how to describe it, hope the terrible paint job (done on iPhone in my defence) is sort of clear

I like that! I'm also impressed by your iphone based drawing skills, my hands are way too big for that.

I'm not sure about the flames coming from the body though, as the heat vents are at the wind tips. Though maybe that makes sense more because the heat vents are venting the flames...

...I've got a couple days to sort this out.

Ooh. Good call. I like that you're thinking about that side of it.

I'd probably sit down and sketch the shape of the wings a few times and then colour in your schemes to see what hey look like. Go with the rule of cool instead of getting in a head spin about whether they would have painted the flames to represent the location where heat would come from (head exploded)

In reality they would paint what looks awesome.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I've just looked up what the Aquila Lander looks like - dude! That is going to look awesome with flames on the wings. Excellent, excellent choice. This could blow everything else out of the water - go to it bud! I am excited to see the final piece

Hooray for Aquila love! I adore it, it's my favourite vehicle (the HBD is a close second).

I'm going to prime it white, and photograph it, and then photoshop scribble on there, I think.

Problem is I've been staring at it so long that I'm not even sure if there's anything left to do before priming... And you know damn well I'll find something the moment I do!

If your photoshop skills are not up to snuff, you can print out pictures and scribble on them. I used printouts, report covers, and wet-erase markers to help figure out what I wanted to do when working on my Baner of Macragge and my Crimson Hunter

LEDs *cough, cough*

What?! Pardon? What do you mean "what was that?". It definitely wasn't me suggesting putting LEDs in to engine ports, or in wings as landing lights, or cockpit and that doing so would make it look the most awesome way possible. I would never inflict that work on a fellow modeller. Even if it would massively improve the overall outcome.

Tum-tee-tum!
And now I walk away to let the seed of inspiration grow

My work here is done.

Seriously. I started sticking LEDs in to Gundam models and they skyrocketed in appearance. The best trick is using button cells in smaller models too. I put LEDs in a Babylon 5 fighter and the red glow in the cockpit was awesome.

Here I am again, this time with some more models for my Infinity Haqqislam. Unlike the Djanbazan, these sculpts are not going to win any beauty contests! I got them mostly for their utility, but the looks have actually grown on me. I hear they are going to be resculpted at some point, but what the hell.

The remotes were a pain to put together. On the left is the Rafiq remote, which is a speedy little specialist bot that can mark targets, sense camo markers, and blast stuff away with its rifle/light shotgun. On the right is the Shihab remote, which is a defensive turret with a heavy machine gun, total reaction and 360 degree vision.

If you look closely you'll see I've already hit a hiccup... the large antenna has snapped off the right hand bot (probably during transport to a game) and is nowhere to be seen. I'm going to try and create a replacement using the other bot's antenna as a mold. If that turns out badly I'll remove the antenna from the other one so they at least match. WIsh me luck!

Alright, I'll consider it for the second one. ...Yes, I have two.

Sweet, I like those remotes. Not as much as my Sputniks, mind you, but those are cute little awkward kiwi drones

I forgot that I still have two Sputniks, Buttercup and Blossom, to do... so that's another option.

Another option is still that Armored Core style robot comprised of a rhino, dreadnought top, a selection of particularly heavy ordinance, and some kind of head to go on top of the sarcophagus(which would have to be covered over/replaced by the ECM).

Bit torn, I kind of want to go head to head with Arclaw with dueling remotes now (I'll lose that battle, but it'll still be fun )... but I've been wanting to make that Armored Core Dreadnought Tank for awhile too...

Salivates madly at the thought of two ........ but only if covered with LEDs

Whichever one gives you that tingle of excitement at the back of your neck and has you planning every minute detail of how to get that perfect model. That's what I'd do anyway
