ENDLESS WAAAAAGH!!!! Mwahahahahahaha!!!!! It would be the end of 4th all over again for me, such a wonderful time to be an Ork. Except i guess i wasnt that OP as the games were close. Honestly if i was "Table my Opponent Turn 2" Op i would probably stare at my army in shock for several minutes, as ive only ever tabled my opponent once, and that was with Daemons. Then i would start giggling like a madman.

If this happened to Sisters i would just do this:

and giggle, like a lot.

I removed the gun arms of my Wraithguard and re-made them as Wrathblades. My Jetbikes only come out against Space Marine Formations and Riptides. My Wraithknight only comes out in Apocalypse.

If such a thing were to happen to my Chaos, I'd do the same.

If DA even became "OP" and not vanilla -1, I would finally get a chance to use the evil laugh I practice at home all the time.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA *cough cough* hahahaha....

Our current codex is a huge improvement from our last... all of them really. I like where it sits though. Not OP, but competitive. Just need terminators fixed, and it will be perfect power level wise.

I already build lists of varying power levels so I can give my opponent the game they want, so I probably wouldn't actually change much.

The hype for your army builds up, some really cool ideas for new units, you get hopeful for new rules, etc... then bam-- you realize that your codex is the most broken thing in 40k, at least until the next release. There's plenty of brokenness if you just play powerful units and ignore the lore, but even playing a lore-friendly army you'll still be more competitive than the rest of the game. And at the same time, everyone hates you for the army you play, even if you've been playing it for a very long time.

Will you stop playing the army out of protest? Will you keep playing, but try to tone it down? Will you keep playing as a lore-friendly army? Will you abuse the hell out of it?

edit: And just to be clear, this isn't intended to be yet another thread where people whine about Eldar. It's a hypothetical question about every other army instead.

I will play my last codex and update rules as necessary to make it compatible with the current edition. Pretty simple huh?

Were my CSMs to get an OP codex, where like possessed had heavy ap2 flamers by default, rhinos were suddenly av14 assault vehicles, rubrics were 2 wound 3+ invulnerable, daemon princes were eternal warrior and could assault after flying, we got back kai guns and found they were now d weapons, dark apostles could take bikes, predators were now available in 6 tank squadrons, land raiders had multiple loadouts, eye of the gods was replaced with veteran skills that could just be paid for and applied to entiee units, etc...

I would just let everyone have it. That's years of playing against optimized netlists and having to use surprise and deceit to win.

I would play the cheesiest list imaginable every day until my FLGS no longer let me into the store. I would get together a phone list for other players and autodial them the night before i was coming to play just so they could feel despair. I would take pictures of defeated opponents and post them to a blog called Victims of the Rules. I would rent a billboard for a month listing all the other codexes that are not mine and state they suck, then fight lawsuits about taking it down.

That's for the first couple months.

I'd play with a handicap in points, like a decent human being.

There is no point winning games with an easy-mode crutch army. The only people who would feel happy winning with that are total losers who have nothing else going for them in life.

(Tau and SM player here) well...
I don't play the optimized lists. I didn't play triptide or anything like that then it was bonkers. I don't play White Scars grav bikers, I play Raven Guard.
If for some reason Raven Guard and non-suit Tau lists became good, I'd rejoice in having an army that is fluffy and crunchy.
my two cents

Since most OPness comes from spamming stuff, I wouldn't go the rout of OPness as I refuse to pay anymore money for new GW models. So I'd have to live with what I have and make it work as best I could.

Play 0-1 of a bunch of things in casual play.
Bring out the hard lists for tournaments.

I've said it before, going to tournaments has really made me have a lot more fun in casual games. Before I went to any, I liked winning casual games, so I would at least try to make tier 2ish lists. After I went to some, I just want the opponent to have a good time playing me, and run stuff I don't get to at event top tables.

While I'd be happy at first that Guard become the top dog, the faction would lose what makes them interesting. The whole appeal of the Guard is the expendable mook going up against almost unbeatable horrors and winning through sheer determination and bravery! If you take that away from the tabletop aspect... well it'd just suck.

Ironically enough, apart from the D-weapons and shooting weapons for Possessed, most of these changes would bring Chaos into a relatively balanced state.

If my csm became really over powered I'd enjoy dishing out the pain I've had to deal with. Then I'd join the eldar players in trolling loyalists especially blood angels and wolves and proving why those armies suck and should be kicked out of the game

Probably give up. Since either the Sororitas are already the most broken codex in the game, or my opponents really, really suck at this game, I don't think I'd ever get a game if I actually had a top-tier codex.

If everything becomes as OP as eldar, then nothing is OP anymore.
Just...a little bit bonkers as everything is "ultimate attack" versus "perfect defense"

This game needs a scale down in lethally, and an increase in the accessibility and viability of debuffs x_x

If horde platoon IG with sentinels and rough riders become OP I will be one happy camper. I love sentinels and rough riders and would like to see them, especially the rough riders, become viable.

If the IG codex came out with piles of new units or change stuff, I would still run the same list I have now. IG are my fun army that I like to use what I like to use. I really don't care if it sucks or works really well.

I assume, after that, you'd stop letting them off easy.
