Play sisters of battle.
Otherwise you can get her for 255 points by taking an allied detachment of space marines. Already playing a space marine force? Pick a different CT, you'll be fine.

Scouts are better until you start spending points on upgrades, for a 'tax unit that might eventually be useful' you can't beat scouts.

As a sidenote Celestines halo has eight points. Celesrine also says she is part of the emperor essentially in FoC.

She's now my go-to girl for HQ choices with my sisters; EW just takes the cake about time!
I was thinking of joining her with seraphim unit but also throwing in Celestine...twin Gemini and twin Saints!.... That's do-able right? One is Celestine, the living saint; other is saint celestine- different models, rules and entries both still current; I don't see why not.

Because people won't want to play you. Remember, the goal of the game is for all parties to have fun, not WAAC....

Such as easy access to FC for a turn for st6 armourbane ;-). Which increases chances of laying on hps against av14 by 50% (10/36 without compared to 15/36 with) 40% better chance against av13 and 24% better chance against av12.

She has the "jump" description - can she join a unit of terms / assaults and deepstrike? She does not have the deep strike rule specifically. Getting her furious charge may not be as easy as we hope.

I haven't read much of this thread. But
The idea behind it, is she the best IC in the game? not the best unit.
The 432(?) points of scat bikes to kill her in a round of shooting (ignoring getting back up) is a lot of points of scatter bikes, 16 scatter bikes, which isn't unheard of (in the lists I've fought against).
But I think her real strength lies in the fact that after you poor 16 scatbikes into her, she will still stand up next turn with a gemini. If you don't dedicated two turns to kill her (minimum) then she will continue to live.
Now consider her in a smash fether deathstar. If she is weak, then retreat her behind two freakin smathfethers, or even wolves if you're playing furries. She will almost never be alone running up the board against 16 scatbikes.

Seriously? All the suggestions I've seen of throwing her in with TWC and FNP and other hijinks, and you call WAAC on throwing in a weaker version of herself that has been one shotted so many times in my experience that I've not fielded her in years?

My understanding is you can't have 2 of the same named IC on the field at the same time. Even if the statline is different if they're both the same IC you can't do it.

The Night Lords daemon prince build is probably the best at the moment...
The death guard daemon prince with wings and no power armor is also nasty in it's detachment before you add any points for psychic or relics. (2+ cover always, FNP with rerolls of 1, can fly for snap firing, high stats everywhere.)

How's that? I was under the impression that you only got the bonuses if you had VotLW. He might get the rerolls on 1s for being in the right detachment, but without VotLW he doesn't have FNP to re-roll.
EDIT: Wait, they get VotLW automatically, don't they? I think I was thinking of Chaos Daemons princes.

Not an IC though so can't tank for units.
Plus always give him power armour. For 20pts that difference against ignores cover and assault is HUGE.

Actually seen some GT- high placing daemon players leave the armor at home for better grav-resist and point shaving. The top daemon player at iron halo (80 man event) this year did so.

Yeah, because SoB are just such a WAAC army and spending 335 points on AP3 T3 CC models is sooooo broke.

Technically the one in C: AS is 'Saint Celestine' and the one in FoC is 'Celestine the Living Saint' so yeah, by raw they're different characters and can be taken in the same army.

Point for point, Celestine is probably:
Top 5 supporty HQs
The best tanky HQ that does not require any support
It's hard to beat a Priest for point-efficient unit support, and Chapter Master Smashfather is more durable - Especially against massed AP2 - if he has an outside source of FNP to bump his up to 2+. (Also Smashfather has far, far better damage output.)

Solid assessment.
I'd be curious to see how the community would attribute other HQs into archetypes.

I reckon she's be a good intimidation against tau, although they'd probably actually have the amount of firepower necessary to put her down in 1 turn. But an excellent bullet magnet to get your army closer.
I just realised that she doesn't have Shield of Faith. This is problematic for putting her in sisters units as the SoF rules state that if a unit with SoF is joined by a unit that does not have either SoF or war hymns, then the sisters unit loses all benefits while that unit is joined to them.
Putting Celestine the living saint in with a unit of Seraphim means that those seraphim would lose their Adimantium Will (not sure if squad still keeps because celestine has that rule), their 6++ (which they get to reroll cuz they're awesome) and their Act of Faith which gives them Shred.
Suddenly less desirable to slap her in an actual sisters unit...

This is only partially correct. She doesn't have AoF, she doesn't have SoF, those are seperate rules and only AoF actually matters. SoF is NOT the one that says all members of the unit must have blah, blah, blah. She has adamantium will herself and that confers to the unit even if she did cancel their's out. The part about it sucking for any SoB unit she joins is true though, she does shut off their AoF.
