It dosn't look like a cats "thingy". If you wanted a covenant coloured weapon for the gav platform, I think it needs to have some blue shaded into it, but that could be a problem since other parts of the platform are blue as well.
It's been awhile since I played halo and it's been a long night for me! I'll edit this later so it makes sense. Automatically Appended Next Post: It looks good!

It's had for me to progress with these guys with any kind of frequency thanks to Melissa and my new job as houseman. But I paint every chance I get and once I get a couple of things to show you, I will. I also have a guardian I just finished with a muddy "swamp" looking thing, as in, "sand" basing almost to ankles, a heavy in wash over the base's dark flesh paintjob to give it some depth... and when it produced some gloss, I gave it a watered-down gloss to give it a wet, muddy look.

EDIT: I am also strongly considering foregoing the ammo belts on the Guardians. They just like very unsymmetrical compared to the rest of the model, and after three paint strippings, it's hard to get dried crud out of the details of the belts.

Here's a prototype of their flag, made on medical tape. It's not trimmed yet, and I put in on paper so that I could paint it on a flat surface, so you can see the brush marks on the paper. Not quite trimmed yet. I was going to do a sashimono and pennant style flag design, but even sashimono still looks a little off. No matter. I'll just make them non-permanent so that I can change them around when I feel like it.

I'm probably about a week away from being completely done with my guardian squad. After them, I've got my wraithlord, Farseer with warlock bodyguard, and Dire Avengers. So, I'm getting there. It's just taking a crapload longer than Necrons ever did. I'm almost done with Fulgrim from the Horus Heresy series, and it's the first time I've read of the Eldar in a novel. Eldrad Ulthran is a secondary (but not tertiary) character thus far. But the traitor Fulgrim virus bombs a sector's worth of maiden worlds. Such a... weird book. Such depictions of debauchery and excess always make me feel odd. That kind of... masochistic stuff always made me queasy. After that I have D&D's The Rod of Seven Parts, George Orwell's 1984, and Mary Shelby's Frankenstien. Oh! And Carl Sagan's Contact.
My girl found a beat-up wooden white desk in a TJ Maxx for $50 so I sprung on it and now have a dedicated "beat to hell" modeling table, and the bonus is that it's white so hopefully pics on it come out better.
I haven't heard much from the other guys. Probably because of Christmas season. Kehrer mostly has replied... but both are bad about answering their phones.
I'm still scavenging for people to play the game with in Columbia, South Carolina. I've got room in my man-cave for a table (barely) and room in my garage as well. But until I find constant game source, I'm not going to shell out for a table.
Well, that's about it for now. I'll definitely post pics when this squad is done. And no, I haven't changed my paint scheme again! I'm going with this all the way. Wraithbone constructs like the Wraithlord, though, might be a different story...
EDIT: Oh yeah! I've converted my standard from Sashimono style to Pennant. I think it's much better.

Well, everyone I knew kind of came together from the same company and nerdy guys who kindof had a mild interest in it without buying... but once enough of us came together it exploded. It seemed a more appealing option to some than D&D. If I were you I would target the modelers or the videogame fans and propose it to them. GW ships to Iraq fairly quick and without special shipping. Just make sure you don't screw up your mailing dress like some did. You've got to do a specific APO adress. And areosol paint cans won't ship there. But if I were you... I would make sure you have an unadulterated place where grunts won't knock over your models or swarm you with ridicule. We were lucky in that sense... basically, keep an eye open for opportunity but don't dump money into it before you get there or right after. Also, keep in mind that large, unpinned pewter minis will likely break during shipment back and forth from Iraq.

my guys know me enough. i am older than my joes and i realy dont care what alot of people think. if i build an army, i will probalby purchase from my local game shop owner and friend in savannah (morning star games, they have a facebook). he will ship directly to me, sure he would violate some "shipping" no nos such as spray cans. and i will surely use some foam for shipping back to the states.

D-U-N done! Well, mostly. I still have to finish the pennant and once that is done, varnish all of the models. But this is how they are going to look. Once I'm done with them, it's on to the Dire Avengers and Wraithlord.
This took forever. MUCH longer than I am used to doing with my Necrons, and working with the yellow was brutal. But I enjoyed it and began to really appreciate doing Eldar.
I've been so busy on my weekends that I have not been able to go up to my local store, Heroes & Dragons, to meet up with any of the tourneys there. Frankly, I've got a woman to hang out with on Saturdays and it's a great deal more fun than hanging out with a bunch of mouthbreathing strangers. But we'll see... I'll get an open Saturday one of these days.
Sorry for the long time inbetween the updates, but I have been working every day on these guys.

Update: After working a couple of days on a single dire avenger model and experimenting with colors, I'm not sure if going with a different style of colors will be a good idea. Ever time I try a new color on the helmet, it looks awful. I've tried looking for alternate color schemes on the internet but they're hard to find... especially good looking ones. If any of you guys have any advice on that, it would be awesome.

As I've probably indicated before, I don't like doing the paint-by-numbers method... I don't like copying the box unless it's particularly awesome (or would not make sense any other way). So I am working on my dire avengers, and those of you know know aspect warrior fluff know that even with different craftworlds, aspect warriors wear the some outfits as all the others. Technically. But of course I didn't want to do it that way. But how do I change up the colors, looking like they match with my guardians but still look different enough? This is what I came up with in collaboration with Melissa. Let me know what you guys think, but keep in mind it is not done. It's not washed and the back sash isn't complete, ect. This is more of a concept piece before I start assembly-line painting the rest. But I want to know if I am just grossly wrong with this decision in aesthetics.
EDIT: If it's that bad, I'll probably just end up painting them like the box.

Diesel, I really liked your blue-green-yellow paint scheme, but if it's hard to paint, then I understand. How someone could ever do an Imperial Fists or White Scars (yellow, and white) army is beyond me. The second scheme on the Dire Avengers (the above white and blue) looks just fine. It is a little simpler, but sometimes that's a good thing, and it is easier to see the details now (the lining on the gun, the pendants, jewls, and daggars, ect).

I had figured that the blue-green-yellow would stick with the main colors, I just figured aspect warriors are supposed to look quite different. Though, honestly, I could do it like I did the other guardians but I would need some way to make them easily stand out among the other troops... even if just so I can tell who they are. Any suggestions if I were to do that? Because I think I may try doing another in the blue-green-yellow and see how it turns out.
EDIT: I'm going to try a new technique with the yellow as well. I bought some yellow enamel spray paint that I will go over with GW's yellow. Hopefully it will make it a bit smoother and quicker. 30 coats of yellow to get rid of the grey plastic color looks really lumpen and sloppy.

You could use an alternately colored helmet or backpack, or just paint the paint-brush-roman-thing on top a really bright color, or both alt. colored helmet and brightly colored brush head.

THIS. IS. SPARTAAAAA! Automatically Appended Next Post: I wish it wasn't so blurry, dude. I'm probably going to go very close to original aspect scheme to avoid the tumultuous mindset of what works. I'll have a finished model in a few days.
I went to a local friendly gaming store with my necrons on Saturday, and won one of out three (though the win was against a seemingly inexperienced teenager). But I made money from the entry fee by winning the painting contest with a gift certificate prize! I've been up to my nose in schoolwork now that my *new* full time job of being a student has started, so I don't have too much time to paint, but I thought you might enjoy a sneak peak.
The middle one is the only finished one. And I know that his forehead decal is messed up, but that will get fixed. The other two are done except for the bases and decals, but they are here to give you an idea of what they look like all over.
Let me know what you think.

Here's a pinning and magnetizing project I've been working on for swappable parts for a wraithlord. For those of you who don't know, wraithlords have a HUGE variety of options and if you just glue them together you're very much restricting yourself to WYSIWYG. So, the magnet holds the hand in place to this arm, and the pin keeps the hand from spinning around like a pinwheel. The pin is superglued to the hand, but free to be removed from the arm. So, we have a interchangeable hand. The only problem is painting that pin to not be an eyesore.
