As the title, why do you like them? do you think they are the "best" "recruitment world?

For one, those aren't regiments, those are recruiting planets. Regiments are things like the 88th Cadian Mechanised. But for recruiting planets? Elysians, they resemble the American Airborne in general attitude and combat, which makes them indescribably badass. Plus they have the best anthem.

“There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.”

Elysians. When I first got into 40K they reminded me so much of ODST troops from the Halo franchise. Though the Tallarn take close second.

I was tempted to go with Tallarn, but Vostroyan holds my vote. Something about space cossacks wielding wooden rifles and dressed in fancy armour with big bear hats makes me smile.

And their models are sweet as anything.

Bad luck?! Schmad luck!

Besides my own. Its a tie between Steel Legion and Death Corp.

Regiment: 91st Schrott Experimental Regiment
Regiment Planet: Schrott
Specialization: Salvaged, Heavily Modified, and/or Experimental Mechanized Units.

Valhallans. Something about the mismatched clothes and the struggling World War II Russian look, fighting against powerful enemies just clicks with me. Plus I love my Wolves and I think they'd make the best match aesthetically.

Mordians, why would you not get dressed up for combat?

I voted Catachan, because I couldn't select the Geno Five-Two Chiliad or G9K Division Kill.

Probably work

Mordians. You don't go to WAR without bringing SGT. PEPPER'S!

Vostroyans are a close second though. Space Ruskies for the win.

Pyran Dragoons for me. They sum up most of the imperial guard-Poorly led, outmatched, inefficient, and balls of steel so powerful they still make a mockery of all the other races. Other than that, Armageddon Ork hunters are badass.

Mordian Iron Guard hands down. Everything about them is awesome. Flashy uniforms, iron discipline, general "not give a 'blank' attitude" about anything. You got a daemon prince over there? Too bad these dudes right here don't really care.

I'd trade just about anything for some plastic Mordians.

Death Korps of Krieg for me. Arguably one of the best model ranges produced by Forgeworld and has one of the best background in terms of battles (Siege of Vraks) and also origins from nuking their own planet.

I'm probably taking this too far back but I really liked the Praetorians (despite being resculpts). Fun to have your brave chaps fight against orks or whatnot. I think Vostroyans or Steel Legion have some of the best sculpts though.

Praetorian Guard easily.

Nothing is better than standing in a huge line in bright red firing by rank into the charging enemy.

I do love all of them though.

Mordian.

Straight up badasses in pimp uniforms.

The battle for Mordian is still my favourite piece of IG fluff.

When you compare the Praetorians and Mordians fluff wise the only difference is a few notable battles. Seriously their planets are no different really. One just has a more dashing uniform...

The only difference is their hat and which fanbase more vehemently supports them.

I was reading that the Praetorian is just a head swap from the Mordian model. So yes, the only difference is hat and name. Plus a few cool battles.

I havent come across any super dedicated fans though.

Quite right, old chap. "Play up, play up, and play the game!"

However, before the Praetorians were released, my favorites were the Valhallans because of the Great Patriotic War* Russian Red Guard look. Had ideas for printing up tiny WW2 Soviet propaganda posters to decorate ruined buildings. Their homeworld would have been called Novyy Rodina or "New Motherland". [Новый родина]

As it was, I was given some surplus space marine figures and a land speeder, so I went with Blood Angels instead. So no IG for me.

Same for me. I spent my first gaming years imagining up the perfect Valhallan army with the theme of the Red Army at its most desperate time. When the time came where I could afford them I had discovered Praetorians and was hooked. One day I may go back and give them a try but im currently well settled with my current army.

Normally I like German stuff, but naming your planet 'war', your regiment the "Death Corps of War", and running around like WW1 Germans is just silly imo, it's up there with Lord Wolf Wolfersson riding a wolf with wolf talismans et al. The models are cool, but not scifi cool.

Voted Cadia as they're the typical "Space Army", and that's what IG are called now apparently.

Back in the late 90s, at the Philadelphia Grand Tournament I played a guy who'd built his IG as Red Army, complete with propaganda leaflets his passed out to his opponents. The effect was very cool.

Awesome sauce. I plan to build a huge fluffy IG army after I finish up my blood angels (missing 2 land raiders a pod, some sang priests and that's all I "need).

Will be a multiple world regiment detachment fully fluffy
Vendattes with elysian troopers, chimeras with cadian veterans (karskin models. Omg karskin are sexy models)

Firing line of platoon inf. Either vostrayn, moradian, or valhallan.

Some veterans or guardsmen squads kitted out for CC with catachan models. (One of my favs)

And some tanks from a world I am as yet undecided on.

Ofc all will be colored differently to show there pride plus hopefully having the different models.

Oh yea, some first and only snipers in place of ratlings.

Ohhhhh I can't wait.

I think a really cool way to make this multi regimental and still super fluffy is have your HQ be Lord Solar Macharius. Then the army will be representative of his grand Crusade! Lord knows I tried and I had a bunch of different regiments - but I had to start thinning my collection down (and it didn't help stuff got nerfed and/or axed as the editions went by….Rough Riders, Armored Fist Squads, etc.)….

My first would be the Steel Legion- I like the idea of them running over a tide of Orks before jumping out and blasting away. After them, probably the Vostroyans, just because the whole Space Cossacks thing is awesome.

Nothing says "40K" like a bunch of skull-masked clones in black uniforms marching to war. The Death Korps of Krieg *is* 40K in a nutshell.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

No. I have to disagree. Cadia is 40k. Why? Dkok are to iron willed.

Not enough chaos... Literally and well you get it.
