In short, my idea is to run a ton of Space Marine tanks. How would I go about this in the most optimal way? I'm thinking of running a Spartan Assault tank filled with Hammernators, Drop Pods with Meltacide Sternguard and Predators/Regular Land Raiders for support.

For Maestrom missions, yes?

With 6 objectives, TH termies and LRs gobble up a lot of points that instead could be 4 to 6 rhinos and then Tacticals splitting into Combat Squads for up to 18 OS units.

How many points you looking to make this list for? Casual play, tourneys?

1850 in general and then expanding out to apoc. I am going to do both though mostly for casual.

Use vanguard assault. You can have squadrons of predators/vindicators/whirlwinds.

I might consider dropping ironclads rather then sternguard. This will help with your armor saturation, and fill a similar role.

What are you planning on using for troops? I see a few options, which can be mixed.

Tac squads in drop pods, to boost your count, and bat clean up in the second wave. Or half squads in razors, to add to the armored fist.

Scouts in LSS. Thematicaly, these guys are flying outriders to the armored column. They are also very mobile scoring units, which should help in maelstrom missions.

Bikes (with a captain/CM to make them troops) One of the better units in the codex, lots of special guns, highly mobile. Fast enough to keep up with the tanks, so very thematic.

2 MOTF on bikes with conversion beamer
2 techmarines on bikes with harness

4 scout squads with snipers and camo cloaks.

3 ironclads
3 laz missle dreads
3 MM/w heavy flamer dreads

This is using 2 CAD's

Very strong list. You infiltrate your scouts onto objectives for early maelstrom point grabbing and just charge the dreads up field with the techmarines fixing whoever gets immobilized.

Interesting idea. What benefits do dreads offer over predators and land raiders? Less susceptible to assault?

If you are trying to SPAM a tonne of tanks then starting out with the most expensive one you can find along with the most expensive unit you can find isn't the way to go about it. Raven Guard with lots of Tacs in Rhinos would be your best bet. Predators for Heavy. Maybe one Whirlwind.

Blood Angels.
You can get 5 assault marines and a Fast razorback for 120 points. 155 gives you a las/plas or Twin-assault Cannon razorback.
In 1700, you're looking at 6 predators and 6 razorbacks.

Honestly though, GK do this better; for about the same cost, you get 9 psi-backs, 3 dreads, a storm raven (all with psi-ammo), along with 6psyker henchmen groups, and 3 squads of purifiers packing 2 psicannons each. Having 24 psychic levels doesn't hurt either.

Yeah BA or GK are the way to go. GK feels sort of gimmicky to me and isn't true SM with all the henchmen but you can do razor rush or dread bash with the BA. In general the SM have pretty weak armor though so I think you're going to be fighting uphill with that list.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

I'd go with Iron Hands for any SM Mechanised list, the IWND regen is going to be very useful, and if you're using Techmarines/MOTF, it helps them too.

Rhinos carrying Tacticals for troops.
Some Stormtalons for Air Support in Fast.
Predators/Vindicators in Heavy
Drop Pod Dreads in Elite.

Done.

Grey Knights can still do a Razor-rush without henchmen.
You can still get 6-8 razors with 30-40 guys (power armor) and 3 dreads into most games. Might work better actually, having all those dudes with power weapons and psycannons.
