So here's a diorama I made for my sister for her birthday, she's a big Dr. Who fan and I find it interesting enough to have enjoyed this project. It has been successfully delivered and well received, and has therefore completed it's objective. These images are what I'll be keeping of it, I thought I would share them for anyone interested. I completed the diorama over the course of 2-3 months but the number of man-hours isn't really that high, just bits and pieces here and there especially over the weekend.

Essentially it is really four mini-dioramas nestled within a rough but serviceable Tardis display box.

The models:
9th, 10th x2, 11th doctors, amy pond, and the master are all from Heresy miniatures. The Daleks come from Black Tree Designs, and the astronauts I got from some little space exploration kit at Hobby Lobby.

The Tardis:
Created of foamcore board, plasticard, and a few bits and bobs, built around paper boxes obtained from Hobby Lobby. The sides are (crudely) magnetized for easy removal.

And the pictures...

Canyon Showdown:

Defender of Earth, or, Old Enemies

Count the Shadows

A Crack in Time

Thanks for looking, feel free to comment and critique if you like, though I probably won't be able to implement any suggestions as it's already been given away

I feel that I got this to the point of ''good enough'', though there was more I could have (and would have liked to) done, but deadlines are deadlines and I'm still fairly happy with the results. I didn't get better at painting, but I made my sister something neat to occupy some space on her desk.

Thanks, I guess I could have fit some more scenes in if I did two per side... but I might have gone insane

6 foot underwater

Looks good dude! Nicely done

If you'd gone for more scenes you wouldn't have got it done in time

Most importantly, did she like it?

Thanks

Yeah, this became a lot bigger than I had anticipated, so getting it done became a priority.

She definitely liked it, and that was the point of the thing so project--success

Thanks

Its based on the Dr Who TV show which I believe originally aired on the BBC.

You know..., I never put a tape up to it... its more than a foot but probably less than 18 inches. Harris box is probably 13-14 and the light adds a couple more inches.

Fantastic work Grimdork, looks great!

I recognise some of the minis but can I ask where you have got the undead spaceman from?

Thanks guys

The spaceman came from a hobby lobby quick-build style kit, like this one but with a rover, lander, and two astronauts:

Having trouble finding the exact same kit on the hobby lobby online store site, but I guess the thing to search for would be space adventures model kit.

I carefully removed the base, (super easy it's very soft plastic, almost like rubber), and carved out the inside of the helmet. Then I put a mantic skeleton head into the cavity, I had to trim the back and top down a little.

On a second look... that link is correct, you just have to pick the right picture with the two astronauts and rover.
