So I wanted to buy a crap load of the OOP genestealers cause i love them, and I did. 150+ of them....lol. I found that if you run 23 squads of 5 and a broodlord in each, any army besides ones with flyer heavy lists just gets swamped. SO now Im wondering why people seem to hate genestealers now? They work just fine to me and make sense for their points. I spent $110 on a 6000+ point army if I put stupid amounts of upgrades into it, and Im not having a problem with any armies spare salamanders, thats a win win to me. I should pick up the vanguard organisms data slate to maximize my jean stealing awesomeness I guess. What do you guys think lol? This is like the dumbest yet most effective thing I've done ever,

Mate that sounds awesome! I love the genestealer models and a swarm of them must look amazing.

You must post some pics of it during a game or just deployed on the table.

Its quite the scene, it'll be leagues better when they're all painted. (going for classic blue purple)

Ill post some soon!

6440 for 20 Genestealers.
7360 with either Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs or Scything Talons
8280 with any two of the above
9200 with all 3 upgrades
9260 with Broodlord
9266 with Broodlord and all possible upgrades on all models.

It's certainly a fluffy army if we base it on the Deathwatch Books Just be careful when they bring 4 marines and a Dreadnaught

Genestealers are awesome.
I don't care if they're any good. Besides which, they're not *that* bad.

Suggestions:

1) Get an especially impressive looking broodlord (the new plastic space hulk one is a winner) and count as Deathleaper - Genestealer HQ.

2) Plenty of biggish stealer squads

3) Manufactorum Genestealers dataslate (from Vanguard organisms) allows you to deliver 5 broods into the enemy's back line right off. You loose first blood (probably) but buy a turn of anarchy in your enemy's lines for the main wave to close.

4) Broodlords! Broodlords! Broodlords! The psychic power 'The Horror' - which can only be said in a fake twilight-zone-announcer voice or you're not doing it right - is tailor-made for genestealers; not only does it mess with enemy shooting but a pinned target (not that hard to do with -2 Ld) doesn't get to fire overwatch and lets you use your faintly ridiculous I6 even if charging into cover.

Suggested List:

Combined Arms Detachment:

HQ
~ Deathleaper

Troops
~ 20 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs
~ 20 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs
~ 20 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs
~ 20 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs

Manufactorum Genestealers Formation Detachment

Troops
~ 5 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs
~ 5 Genestealers, Broodlord with Toxin Sacs
~ 5 Genestealers
~ 5 Genestealers
~ 5 Genestealers

That's 105 genestealers, 25 of which are in your face turn 1.

Trust me, not crazy. Just make sure you do it fluffy. I made this monstrosity;
and got plenty of support. Your not the only one out there. You have a couple more than I do right now, but always keep in mind that when it comes to one of the most iconic units of the game, overkill is underrated. That being said, feel free to show a few pictures. I am always excited to see vintage Genestealer colors, considering the only Tyranids I see anymore are either unpainted or my own scheme. On a side note, do you plan on getting more?

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Spoiler:

Just for you, another classic color scheme

For maximum silliness, I would be running nothing but Hunting packs and Manufactorum broods. 30+ 5 bug broods, 1 in 7 with a brood lord, and maybe half able to start inside 6" of the enemy? Just going to make for a very bad day.

I am one scything stealer short of running a Hunting Pack, Man. Stealers, and a Living Artillery node in games for fun.

Looking over the dataslate again, I wholeheartedly support Broodlord's Hunting Pack formations.

They're awesome - they do NOT use infiltrate, they use their own rule which does not include a prohibition on turn 1 charges! If you can find a ruin 6" or more away from the enemy you can pack it with a brood of genestealers with Preferred Enemy (those dudes over there) and give zero time for reaction.

For that matter, even if they can't charge, manufactorum packs are great "what the!!!" distractions - remember you can't add additional stealers but can add broodlords.

Does there rule not say any unit in the formation arriving from reserve can set-up in any unoccupied Building or in Ruins as long as they are set-up more than 6" away from any enemy unit? If that's the case, doesn't just arriving from reserve keep them from being able to assault? (also...forget turn 1 if they're being held in reserves).

This is so epically fluffy, I'd love to see pictures as well Using this flood of genestealers might be most fun if you have a space hulk style board. However, the enemy might be pissed off if he only may bring 4 Termis.

Necron
Chaos Space Marines
Grey Knights
Imperial Knights
