So I have a Terminator Squad I built up nearly a year ago that I'm slowly getting around to painting. When I built them the old Codex was still in effect and Thawn was still in so I have made a pin that will allow me to switch between Sword, Halberd (for Thawn mode) and Stave (for soaking up challenges).

Now the changes have been made to the Codex I'm rethinking whether it's worth the time to paint all 3 weapons and not just the Sword to keep it cheap and not on funny costs of 2ppm. Halberd at +1 Str doesn't really do much for what they'll be doing: objective camping and fulfilling the 1 Troop requirement for Nemesis Strike Force detachment.
The Stave I'm on the fence about. Its original intention was to soak up challenges with the 2++, which is why I put it on the Justicar instead of a Terminator. Now its not great for challenges except possibly against the odd character with a 4+ save and decent combat ability, but that squad-wide Adamantium Will is decent enough.

What should I do? Should I just glue on the sword? Or should I paint all 3 weapons? Or just the sword and Stave? Or sword and halberd?

For reference, the other members of the unit are as follows: Hammer and Storm Bolter, Sword and Psilincer, 2x Sword and Storm Bolter

Mine are all getting Falchions or Halberds...and a melta bomb.

Falchions for another attack is great when your unit has hammerhand.

Halberd is good if you don't want to worry about Hammerhand.

Hammers should hide in squads.

Staves are also meant for hidden psychic defense.

Swords are just 2 pts away from being +1S

I'd paint all 3, or at least the sword and stave.

I'd keep the stave available in case you want to attach the pre-requisite Librarian and free up the Librarian's weapon hand for a hammer. That way the entire unit still has Adamantium Will while the Librarian can do something in a challenge.

I admit I will continue to use Halberds because I already have them modeled and painted. At least they're cheap and will sometimes make Hammerhand unnecessary (like when fighting T6 multi-wound creatures or T3 characters). While giving Hammerhand a boost for combating T8.

I seem to think Halberds are a decent choice. But then again I haven't played a 7th game yet. S7 with hammer hand is nothing to joke about. But then again, to save points swords would also be a good choice. Falchions are more than likely one of the better options now to increase the amount of attacks the unit puts out in CC.
