I was going over the fliers for Tau and realised that the drones on the Sunshark have skyfire so they can't shoot ground targets with their blasts WTF. So basically the Sunshark bomber is now useless compared to the Razorshark Fighter. Anyone else a bit annoyed about this? I am.

Am I overlooking something? Am I wrong lol?
Is the Sunshark still viable for its points?
What Tau fliers are good in 7th?

Neither of the flyers were ever good for their points or good in general. The two flyers seem better suited to the other's role and still wasn't too proficient at that either.

I have one that is almost fully assembled and painted from the initial release that I can't be bothered to finish because I can see no actual use for it. I was considering making a proposed rule for a drone carrier with a 6-8 drone rack where the bomb generator would go, but never got around to finishing it.

Sadly the only good flyers are from FW and I think it's really limited to the Barracuda.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

The Flyer can. The Drones cannot. However, Skyfire applies to more than just Flyers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

In 7th Razorshark is a better deal. S8 AP4 pie plate is quite interesting.

Still, a Barracuda is cheaper, better protected, better armed and comes with a S8 AP3 pie plate

Mostly because of the drones and the markerlight. The bomb was (and still is) pitiful

No one ever fielded it. It was Riptides. Everywhere, Riptides.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

As compared to the other Tau flyer? That thing is also useless in 7th with all the good stuff tau have access to.

Barricuda where it's at. That thing is an under rated gem of an aircraft. Forgeworld. With the right load out 2+ jink and with markerlight support can hit well even while jinked. Ha. It also packs a ton of firepower and can auto target skimmers and ignore their jink.

Fragile if it ever gets hit. If.

Forst-directed main cannon is also a problem for him given that he cannot hover, meaning you will have problems getting decent shots at a small table.

On apoc however, the cudda is quite amazing, as it got the room to make maneuvers.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Which is not a bad thing, it's a good thing. The Tau flyer is an awful model, so at least the poor rules preclude me ever seeing them on tabletop.

I think the rods are the only thing that really make it look ugly. If someone could assemble one without the rods, the Tau flyer would look semi decent.
