yeah, I Picked the Sector Imperialis up for £155 second hand. Not the best deal as I can get one brand new for £160 at DarkSphere. But it's was undercoated black which saves me a little paint and time and money so why not. And Fight! My painting is quick and dirty. Roads, Sidewalks and dirt areas sprayed with Army painter Wolf grey Side walks and mud then sprayed Imperial Grey Relic stuff sprayed bone. Industrial stuff sprayed grass green. The easy bit done! Time to get involved with brushes... I mixed up a dirty light brown mix... enough for the whole board. My left over orchre from the last ROBB, 20% water, vallego black wash, brown a pot of green wash to increase the pigment again... And at about 75% done applying the brown crud I've stopped painting for the day... :( Panic...

Nice job so far. Keep at it. It's a big job, but it's worth it.

yeah,
Cheers!
It's a big job no doubt.
And so much of my geek time is now being spent on X-wing and 40k conquest.
However I've got a bit more done.
Almost done with the painting the metal bits brown 2 tiles left to go, I've prematurely moved on to do other colors.
including sponging on the metal.
Bought the new versions of GW ink pots, 3 devlan muds 2 trakka green 1badab blacks. .
Aiming for a dark brown/green mix, I'll mix with water and vallejo ink so that I have enough to cover all 6 tiles at once..
After the ink I'll weather further with modelmates powder sprays.
Panic...

Some of the design elements of these boards work for me, and some really don't. Regardless, yours is looking good so far.

yeah, Got a couple of hours on the board today. Four and a half of the boards now have the metal done.. so boring! I've begun testing how to paint the stone areas and puting some brown dirt in the gaps and edges to tie the metal and stone areas together. I placed some buildings on the board... Doesn't look great yet... the buildings are very plain and the boards without washes are too bright. Panic...

Don't panic! Stay the course with the washes and if its still too bright maybe do a darker highlight or go nuts with weathering powders. It'll come together!

You could also try doing some of the buildings in a more vibrant colour, say a yellow sandstone rather than the typcial granite grey.

A lot of these panels look like GW should've made them into walls instead of flooring and sidewalks. Your work on 'em is great, though.

Agree'd my first thought was to cut out the aquilas and church type bits and integrate them into walls later... but that would have extended the time on this!
Panic...
