This is fun!

Ad mech/Skitarii was apparently second year of 7th edition. Dont know when they got the joint army.

Khorne Daemonkin got their codex earlier that same year, but they didnt survive to next edition.

Crimsome Slaughter got their supplement book end of 6th edition, and also the same with codex Militarum Tempestus (didnt survive long, but were probably usable in 7th)

Craftworld got a huge update semi-recently and they didn't feature as the title faction in a starter set, despite needing a huge number of models.

Meanwhile both Necrons and Tyranids were honestly in good positions before the new launch edition updates to their armies.

The last few editions it feels like the starter boxes have been geared to align with some narrative. If that's the case going forward, Orks are FAR more likely than Dark Eldar.

12th edition could be a throwback to 3rd edition with Black templars vs Dark Eldar. That would be something to look forward to.

It's so ludicrous that we're on double digit editions of this game now.

Apropos ludicrous, I just wondered why GW might want to even do an Ork starter box when they just updated the range recently - only to realize that some core kits (bikes, nobz, I guess the stormboyz) are now older than GW's target demographic :p

Perhaps the orks in this new box will give us enough boys with shootas, and enough with choppas, to make legal squads out of the last Ork starter set, lol
