As they sprint down the passage, air burning in their lungs with each gasp, the unmen give chase, crawling, flapping, or scuttling towards their prey. A spine hurled from the ropey entrails of a mycomorph strikes James in the leg, punching out the other end with a gory crack of splintering bone. He falls, but Varz grabs him by the arm, pulling him towards the single open door at the end of the corridor.

"Come on! I'm gonna get you in here, kick at it or something!"

I use my free hand to get out my gun, and fire at the tentacle.

Varz fires at the thing, the pistol barking loudly as the muzzle flash contrasts sharply with the red lighting, creating a cavalcade of unwholesome colors. Pulling the spine from his leg, James winces in pain as blood pumps from the wound, leaving a red ribbon behind him as he limps on with all the strength he can muster. The door is close now, the unmen are closer.

Searching through the level directly below the one you arrived on, you come across the Phantom's corpse, little more than a chunk of ragged meat, with shattered bones protruding from the flesh at bizarre angles, like some kind of grotesque tree. The right arm is nearly gone, the bullets having rendered it to a bloody skeleton. His neck is obviously broken, twisted nearly off his torso by the force of the fall.

Slicing open the skull with an autosaw, Specter places the bone aside, scooping out the grey matter within, then placing the Phantom's scythe on his belt.

I follow Nighthawk and Dave, looking around at my surroundings, alert.

Varz and James stumble through the doorway as the gibbering things close, the blast door's servos shrieking as it slams shut, severing the limbs and heads of the mad unmen. Breathing a sigh of relief, the two take a short breather, collapsing to the floor in exhaustion. Then the door begins to shake. The mycomorphs hurl themselves against the door, beginning to bend the steel frame in their need to murder. The two renew their escape struggling to get away before the door falls in. Suddenly, an access door whooshes open, and a pair of hands pull the struggling men inside as the door slams shut once more. Looking up, Varz and James meet eyes with a familiar face. "Rachel?"

The path leads either straight on or left, not right.

"Jesus, Rachel!" I say, going in to hug here. "I have fething missed you!" I say, holding her tight.

"Do we follow them inside or do we remain here to secure the foundry?" I ask of no one in particular, hoping that somehow commnad would hear me and answer.

Rachel looks just as surprised as Varz, returning the embrace and kissing him before releasing him. "How did you survive, we saw you dragged... What happened to you Varz?"

"Its a long story. I managed to survive in the Lazarus facility until the Conclave arrived. They put me in the rehabilitation facility and tried to turn me. They failed. Therefore I was put down for execution. But obviously somebody saved me, but it wasn't necessarily good. They wanted to use me as a host for an even bigger one of those monsters. Then again, they sort of saved me, as due to thier attack, I managed to escape and find James and the team. But we have lost just about everybody. They even got..." I shiver at the remembrance of the last big battle. "... Gaz."

The com of DAB746151 buzzes as the voice of HQ resounds in his helmet. "Current objective: Defend Foundry from nonstandards. Objective void. Current objective: Terminate remaining nonstandards. Nonstandards seen entering maintenance shaft. Pursuit is required. Failure will result in termination."

I immedailty rush to the maintance shaft and ponder what the enemy's next move is and where Ray294 is

I move to the maintenance shaft and examine it for anything that may be useful(light switches, power boxes, doors...).

As the blanks approach the shaft, DAB746151 searches for any useful material, and finds a hand-torch and an energy cell.

"Hi Rachel," James says taking out his medical supplies, getting ready to attempt to fix up his leg, "Before I ruin my leg anyone want to help? I can talk you through it, easy procedure really, take your time, kiss, hug, all that good stuff. My leg will still be in tatters when you finish." Awkwardly holding down on the wound trying to keep the blood loss under control while smiling at the touching reunion of everyone but Gaz.
