Probably Creeper'd.

Creepers tend to love New Dakkatown. I had an incident outside the portal house involving 4 creeper explosions. 2 more were nearby but didn't participate in the fun.

On a related note, there's a 'shortcut' from my portal and sanc to New Dakka (OK, I ran into the sanc hallway). This is just a 45 degree hall that makes the trip a bit shorter. If anyone wants to add stone bricks to make it more secure or glass blocks to make it more scenic, please feel free.

Has anyone placed a load of iron railing seemingly randomly on top of a mountain, near some pumpkins?

Because that is what I have just found in what I thought was an unexplored area.

Why'd you tear it down? It looked cool...

It ruined the view from my local Church, and they filed with the council who discovered a complete lack of planning permission and thus ordered it torn down.

Luckily, a large band of travellers is now moving in on that spot.

The farm is now pretty much at full capacity, drop by if you ever want some free supplies. Read the signs, and be tidy when harvesting.

The server will be completely Reset in November!

Awwee... That's not good news at all...

So with the reset, are going to make a mess of it like the current server or establish some rules to keep it neat.

I think the most likely scenario is just setting up communities with building restrictions like we do now. No point putting stuff like that on the whole server.

With the reset, I think there should be some requirements. First off, the very first thing that everyone has to do is make a good spawn area- this includes light, walls, supply stuff- maybe a small farm or something. That's got to be the priority for everyone before we all go haring off to do our own thing.

Second, if you go haring off to do your own thing, mark your path back to Spawn. Whether Nether Tunnels and paired portals, or cobble/wood roads, or carving a straight line through everything in a certain direction, whatever. Spawn should be a central hub to everything else, and easy to navigate, even if nothing else is.

When the Nether Rail gets set up again, it should be easier to navigate, even if someone doesn't have a minecart. Each station should say which side goes towards and away from Sanctuary Station/the main entrance in Nether spawn- and also, there should be doors to the outside, so a Netherside community or town can be set up, rather than just using the Nether for travel.

Now obviously I can't enforce these, and I'm putting them here more as ideas. I just hope people read them and think they'd be useful, even if only as precepts to build their own building behaviour off of.

That's kind of sort of what we were doing already but it seems too loose.

Manor should be copied over to the new world. Too soul crushing for it not to be.

I'd like my house too but it has too much redstone fiddly bits and could be annoying so may as well just build a new one.

Dark, when you copy structures, what if they are in the wrong biome?

I will probably cover that in my request system (at the moment it looks like I will just make a new thread for it).

As oceans may (and probably will) appear where there previously was land, I won't be able to put structures in their exact locations in a new world. But that doesn't really matter too much as most people chose the locations for their stuff for the surrounding land, not for the x or z coordinates. (This has the downside that the nether will be impossible to match up, so I will have to just help you all rebuild the nether from scratch).

I'll give people the choices for their building(s):
"Try to match existing land/biome"
"I want my building in a #### biome"
"I don't care, surprise me!"

It is very easy to copy just the building. This is how I restored the Manor when it was burned. I won't copy existing surrounding area unless it is part of the structure itself (e.g. people who have bases embedded or hidden in mountains).

If I copy just the structures, it means the land beneath your buildings will be fresh and full of ore (this is a good thing, right?)

However, as I keep saying, the official release is not till November 19th. So anything could happen between now and then that means we should rethink the plans. For example, what if he adds support for multiple worlds with the addition of the floating islands world? If that were the case we could just leave everything as is.
