Like many Fantasy fans, the End times was a bit (er, a huge) disappointment for me, as was the destruction of our entire setting. I think general consensus is pretty negative about the End Times.

But behind every cloud there's a rainbow, and I want to make a thread for people to share the good stuff from the End Times. It wasn't all bad, I hope.

I liked:

- Putrid Blightkings are a pretty good addition to WOC, they made a great tarpit unit and look nice as well.
- The art from the End Times books are all pretty solid.
Spoiler:
The moment when Be'lakor was captured by the elves in Archaron was pretty great
Grimgor fighting Archaron near the end put a smile on my face too

The Undead Legions army list.

Excluding the over the top characters, I really like the list as a whole. It made Tomb Kings pretty good, as a lot of their units finally became worth their points, and from a modeling perspective it was a great opportunity.

What makes me mad though, is even though I dropped all that monies for the Nagash book, nowhere lets me run legions as a list. They allow the far more broken Chaos Dwarves however, with all the stupid cheese from Tamurkhan,

The image of Tyrion and Alarielle watching the world being destroyed. The image of Teclis being torn apart by magical overload.

The ending. Suitably epic and appropriate.

The new magic rules. Changed the way the magic phase is played, and made uber spells less relevant.

Magic. Lets people play more than one or two wizards whose utility is completely dependent on the dice, lets you plan around magic in a way that 2d6 power dice and random spells didn't.

The fact that Krell had a decent supporting role in the story.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I really liked that I left the game when 8th edition was released.

I know lots of people are hating on the End Times, and I do dislike how we are kind of left guessing where everything is going now, BUT I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story itself.

My favorite bits (without spoilers):
- The way the story picked up right after the Sigmar's Blood campaign.
- The arcs of Vlad, Malekith, Balthasar Gelt and Teclis. I think nuances in these characters came out that didn't exist before and it really helped to make them three-dimensional. Especially Vlad. I didn't care at all about his character before, but throughout the entire End Times, there was so much going on with him and he made so many decisions that seemed opposite of what you would expect but were completely justified.
- Alarielle's ruthless representation of the Lore of Life. She wasn't just some "white mage" healing everything, she would brutally kill anyone that got in their way or threatened Athel Loren.
- Everything with Grimgor in Archaon was great fun, especially the scene with him and Malekith.

My favorite bits (with spoilers):

Spoiler:
- How events in different parts of the world tended to affect other areas in drastic ways.
- Louen Leoncoeur's last stand, fighting and melting away completely in gold.
- The revelation that the Lady of the Lake was Lileath and how that destroyed the hope of the Bretonnians. Bummer for them, but was interesting for the story.
- Everything with the war in Lustria between the Lizards and the Skaven, with the exodus occurring. I seriously think they will be back.
- Sigmar flying through the sky at the end as the comet.

Those are just my thoughts. As I said, thoroughly enjoyed the fluff, haven't played an ET game so I don't know how the rules play.

Everything about Vlad's story arc was great. I always thought he was the coolest of the Vampires, and i always hated Manfred. In End Times they portrayed both almost exactly how i imagined them inside my head, with Manfred being greedy and selfish and Vlad being an anti-hero.

And Isabella, she was well done and a great surprise. Every scene she was in was a delight, scaring Manfred, distracting Nagash and her reunions with Vlad.

They were my favourite part of the End Times. Also, F*ck Manfred, he ruined everything. Always hated that guy.

Manfred is a big girl's blousse. No vampire worthy of the term "vampire" would run from a Troll Slayer who was armed with nothing but a pair of silver candlesticks.

Loved the story, epic amounts of fluff. Some meh moments for sure, but thats what happens when you have multiple writers and some of them are gushing fanboys.

Rules in early books were decent, too. Nagash aside, the Undead stuff is really cool.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

It was very nice to see Louen Leoncour get so much screen time, because Bretonnia is a favorite of mine as a casual follower of FB fluff. Also, Super Saiyan Karl Franz was pretty cool.

It helped me decide to build a Warmaster Empire Army instead of diving into Fantasy Battle.

As a dark elf player, I was pleasantly surprised at how the Sundering was finally resolved.

I also couldn't help but think that Archaon's obsession with Middenheim was derived from the colossal beating he took during the Storm of Chaos campaign, which got retconned away. It was as if the studio said, "Hey, we really meant for Archaon to sack that city, so now you silly players can't do anything about it."

Also, casual reference in Thanquol to the Doom Hemisphere.

There was alot that I liked.

I loved any scene that had Krell or Arkhan. One is a silent, single minded killing machine, the other was a thoughtful, almost sympathetic(at times) scholar/sorcerer. The banter between Mannfred and Arkhan in the Nagash black library book was the best. Those two should get a morning talk show, where Krell kills the guests when they are done interviewing them.

In Lord of the End Times, when Valten is leading the last of the defenders of Middenheim, there is a hardened knight in the ranks who was a former bounty hunter. This bounty hunter turned knight takes aim at Archaon with his wyrdstone bullet loaded pistol and shoots him, knocking him off his horse. He goes in for the kill but Archaon recovers in time, the knight engages in close combat with Archaon, and in the brief skirmish, puts a throwing dagger into a gap in Archaons armour. The enraged Archaon the promptly overpowers the knight and kills him. Brunner the Bounty Hunter went out like a boss, having unhorsed the Everchosen of Chaos and wounded him in close combat.

Also in Lord of the End Times, when Arkhan(who's awesome!!!) asks for orders from Nagash when they both know they are at the end of the line. After a moment of hesitation that startles Arkhan, as he's never seen Nagash so uncertain, Nagash says to his first and most faithful henchman: "DIE WELL MY SERVANT". Pretty sure that is literally the most sentimental thing Nagash said in his entire existence.

The last stand of the Karak Eight Peaks civilians was heartbreaking and superbly written.

Speaking of heartbreaking, when Gobbla ...died.... No... I'm not ready. It isn't real to me yet.

Also, the books themselves were awesome. I felt they were great value for the money I spent.

When you say Lord of the End Times, do you mean the Archaon Blick Library book with that subtitle, or something else?

I'm one of the odd ones.

I enjoyed the End of Times. My gaming group enjoyed doing a lot of the battles, and smack talking back and forth. Specially our elf players. Our group had all three factions, so was fun listening to them talk smack back and forth.

Myself playing dwarves, I enjoyed playing the couple of scenarios I had, and trying to beat the outcome. Plus did some of the what was supposed to be Empire fights, with just my dwarves, and building units I would think would be at the battles.

I am curious, and a little worried about what changes are coming. Specially after watching 40k turn into a game I rarely play now, when i used to play it more than Fantasy.

As long as I can keep feilding an all dwarf army, i will be fine for the most part, unless they screw over my friends armies to the point where they dont want to play.

If they screw it up to much, will probably finally cave and let some other friends of mine, who play Kings of War, run some demo games for us, and see if we like it.

The thing that probably annoyed me the most (after thinking about it) was the last-minute, left-field anal-conjuring involving the Incarnate of Heavens. Trapped in the Wind of Azyr for 2000 years, what? That makes no sense since the number is short by about 500 years, and there's ZERO explanation as to how or why that could have happened.
