I can honestly say now, without a doubt, there is nothing nearly as cheezy in forgeworlds books.

The only thing? There's no good artwork, for example, no interesting bits of background or quotes? The layout is awful?

Actually the only good thing would be the serpent shield nerf and the much needed buff to Howling Banshees.

As to the fluff section...well I'm guessing it will be a copy-paste job from the current book's anyways, with huge artwork thrown in to fill pages.

I heard that the shield is the same while defending, better when shooting but One Use Only?
Considering how the Serpent went down in points, it's stil one of the best vehicles in the game.

Last I checked BOLS was saying the Serpent Shield is 2d6 S6 shots now instead of d6+1 S7, and if you shoot it you can't shoot it or gain the defensive benefits for the rest of the game. Not a huge nerf given that it went down twenty-something points at the same time but it's no longer a better Falcon than the Falcon.

It got some of the oldest and crappiest plastics in the game an update that looks really cool, even if it prompted endless complaining at the same time because of the rules changes to said kits, better models is positive in my book.

Oh... If you can't use the shield after firing, it's definitely a nerf.
Well, at least the rules now make sense. A shield that can be used as a weapon continuously is pretty ridiculous.

I always read it as something more like the Riptide's reactor lore-wise. I've got some fungibility in my power grid, this time I'm going to divert power to shields, next turn I'm going to divert it to these weird secondary weapons, et cetera.

Yep. I must say the sheer amount of cryfapping happening is rather entertaining. Thank you elder army book!

I have done my fair share of "the sky is falling" posts, as I am rather concerned about a few cheesebeards I know. Though in reality the simple way of countering that is to just not play their spammy lists.

Every book, every release, every FAQ we get the bitchfest. "This is too powerful", "they took away my toys", "this is silly", "why does GW not playtest", it's enough to utterly dull your sensitivity to outrage with the outrage level so constantly high.

Not every release. Skitarii didn't get any hate really!

GW fans really are the Daily Mail readers of the wargaming world, forever in a paper shaking outrage about something minor.

I take offense to you complaining about me complaining about the rules. This is an outrage!

To be fair, people often start with very valid points. It's only after the rest of the Internet gets involved that we reach a fever pitch of absurdity.

A mate pointed out that the rank of the model on it's cover art recieved a nerf....

I'm one of the masses disliking the new eldar 'dex, but i'm thinking about it with a dreadful thought - "the mechanicus 'dex is going to be worse isn't it?"

The hate for Eldar is real, though.

People whined about Necrons but, really, if you dont play the decurion and dont spam wraiths you cant be TFG with them at all.

Nobody whined about Khorne Daemonkin, Skitarii, Harlequins, Orks, Blood Angels (maybe a bit) or Grey Knights (except that they took half the codex' toys away).

So yeah, the whining about Eldar power level is real.

If you dont play WKs, you still have WG. If you dont play them either, you still have scatbikes. If you dont play them either, you still have the Aspect Warriors who all got better for no extra points cost. If you dont play them either you are left with very little.

The whining may be real. Eldar has certain units that punch above its weight class. If they just take WKs, WG and jetbikes, its a tough army but it is no big deal. We have faced deathstars that are far worse... jetseer council, beaststar etc and lived to tell the tale. So if eldar just bring some regular units... its really not that big a deal unless you are intentionally playing low power games.
