Hi all
It's been over a year since I last posted anything in the creative forums. I have still been here, just quiet. Got some time on my hands as the family are away visiting the in-laws so time to GSD
Now instead if resurrecting old threads which I'm sure wouldn't go down too well with mods. I thought I would start a blog and bring all the threads here this way things should keep regular.

Basically, what you will find here will be the WIP for my IG (Old WIP found herehttp://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/521071.page)
I will be adding in my Necrons, Crimson Fists, Some Perry Miniatures and some Hassle Free Miniatures with other stuff as it comes.

So, without further ado I give you what was once a Griffon Mortar WIP but has now turned into a Death Strike Launcher (More BOOM!). The Idea is. This is an old relic of the armoury. The vehicle has been patched up and refitted numerous times. I want to give it a banged up look. If you look closely you can see some heretic has even done some welding :O

Missile carriage.

And how it fits in.

If you looked at the old thread you will know that this was a rescued Hell Hound at one time.

Cheers Vim

Hi
Well my attempt at doing regular updates has kind of fallen on it's face but well, very busy at work building up to E3.
Here is some stuff I have managed to do in the meantime.

Some Crimson Fists. Web exclusive mini's from just after the last Marine codex (The older last one)

My dread and the start on some old metal mini's a fellow Dakkanought donated

Here is the first out of a job lot bag of about 7-8 sentinels I managed to swag from Ebay a short while back. Dipped, stripped then repainted.

Enjoy.

Thanks man

Finally got the last 10 man squad finished from my...

... 43'ish man platoon blob/ veterans. I have made enough special weapons to make all kinds of configurations.

Next up, IG troop wise. City militia (Conscripts) they will be bolstered by a Judge (Commissar). Going to go for a different colour scheme but keep the snow base to tie in with the rest of the army as my head will explode if I paint more guys like the previous infantry blob.
Cant believe I picked all 31 of these guys up for 16 euro from the second hand bin in a game store in Paris. Will definitely be popping in there more often me thinks.

Well that's all for now.

That's some very crisp painting. I like it!

How come the french have some many good miniature painters?

HEH. I'm actually British but live here in France There are lots of very talented continental painters though.
So... Next up is something I've started on yesterday. My new custom chapter to replace my rather old silver marines.
Spoiler:
I wanted to go with something that has some colour in for a change so... green!

Ignore the Dark Angels symbol as it is all I could do on the painter. The idea is I can play them as C:SM, Blood Angels, Dark Angels or Space Wolves.
I was wondering if anyone has found a good source of alternative chapter badge transfers. I'm thinking along the lines of dragons, stars, swords etc?

This guy is going to be the Smash Lucker biker chapter master

Hey all thanks for the feedback.
Decided t go ahead and paint the chassis for the Deathstrike. The missile carrage is almost finished but I have no idea how to start the missile. Need to collect more cylinders in my bitz box

Finished the chapter master but need to find some suitable decals to use as the chapter symbol. Looking online for some alternatives but nothing so far. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all. Sorry for the blurry photos. I need to work on this.
Finished the DeathStrike chassis and first part of the carriage. Tried to make it look like it has been out in the snow so little clumps have gathered in the recesses. I also added some mud to the tracks. any C&C is welcome as I think it is still missing something. Maybe details like markings etc.

Just a little update to show something I have been working on. It's the base for my Necron Tomb Stalker. I wanted to make it look like a position that had just been overrun.

Nice.

For the decals, if you're having trouble finding 'right' ones, you can always pick up some transfer paper for your printer and knock out your own design.

Jeez man all of your stuff is amazing, I really love the tomb stalkers base. As for the decals try this http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/143757-ye-olde-decal-project/#entry1665657 . It has a generic section a bit down the first page, hopefully it helps!

That is some nice reference. You guys are right I need to set about printing my own decals.
Now I have had a look on-line and it seems I am after Ink jet water slide paper and Acrylic clear coating. Problem is I have no idea what they would be in French. Will pop into a hobby store in Paris tomorrow to see if the guy there can help.
In the mean time if any native French speakers can help. It would be much appreciated

I introduce the start of a small historical army. These guys are from Perry Miniatures. They are great little sculpts and I highly recommend them.

First off. Just finished Sir Percy Foshwald.

Some city watch lead by Sheriff Duncan 'Git face' Le Blanc.

Some posh arrow magnets.

The grunts.

I have another 10 horsemen to paint and something like 20 infantry.

Thanks Insaniak. The quality of the sculpts helps a lot.

Because it's always a great idea to have too many projects on the go at once . I give you the start of my zombie hoard. They are Mantics plastic zombies. 40 per box :O

The sculpts are OK but I wish there were more arms and body variations. I plan on doing some to look like fallen guard and others with all sorts of cybernetic stuff going on. No idea how far i will take the hoard but the idea of swamping an opponent in a never ending hoard of the undead strikes a note

Suddenly had the urge to paint Blood Angels. Sooooo

They are stripped and re-painted marines from my old silver marines. I quite like the idea of doing my blood angels with the normal tactical box as there is less gumpf on the minis. Pretty basic I know but it's a start.

I really am bad at forgetting to take pictures during the WIP process. I think it's because I have a few days of intense hobby-ing then a week or so of nothing. Anyway...

Been working on some terrain as I bought the Deep-cut Studio 4'x4' badlands theme mat for our 750 points work games and a great big styrene foam insulation board from the local DIY shop. It's amazing stuff. Cheap as chips and carves really well.

Starting with the outpost sensor station. Again, sorry for no WIP on this.

Some hills. They were my test beds on how to carve the styrene. I tried to go for a lopsided-eroded strata.

Strange alien crystal growths. I'm starting to think they look like carved beetroots though

A futuristic thingy-ma-bob. Actually the first thing I did in the group before I bought the insulation board. Think I may go back and revisit the detailing with some cardboard panelling.

Finally a WIP :O
These are going to be 8 man hab blocks.

Cheers Vim

Quick update on the portable hab blocks. Started to add panel details. Just trying to psyche myself up to do rivets :(

I have also added a couple of better pictures of the sensor station.

Great stuff in this thread, I love the hobby butterfly aspect. Makes me feel less bad about the number of project I have to do...the only difference is that you're getting things completed!

Great stuff though, looking forward to seeing them hab block completed.

Hey all

Thanks for the replies. I do tend to hop from one project to the other. I do stuff based on what I feel like doing and importantly with a family, on what I have time for
Tonight I finished the last 5 guys from the start of my Blood Angels army. I know there is nothing particularly inspired in the way they have been painted but I have to say. I have had a great time painting them. They take me back to the mid 90s and the first actual squad that I ever painted. There is also just something special for me about Blood Angels

I will try to get some better images.

Cheers Vim

So. Slow progress on the Hab unit. Started rivets...

So for tonight I will begin on these girls.

Picked them up from the excellent HassleFree.

Wondering how to paint them. Was thinking of doing the inverse of the original theme they are inspired from but the colours don't really work.

Any ideas?

Hi all

Small update. Looking to getting back into painting my IG. First off a Sentinel that I managed to loose the WIP picks of Dah!. You can maybe see from the photos that the entire upper half of the crew compartment has been scratch built. As this one along with the previously posted Sentinel are all part of a job lot I picked up from Ebay and there wasn't enough parts to build another armoured one.

Also something I started. A hive judge 'counts as' Priest. He will be leading some hive militia (conscripts).

Cheers, Vim

Hi all.
After finishing the last of my plasma cannon armoured sentinels. I have done the first of my heavy flamer scout sentinels. As before the parts are salvaged from my ebay grab.

Some PIP.

Finally I went for a simple camo scheme on this guy and did some reposing of the RHS toes as he will be running. I have no base for him yet as I need to pick up some GW spec 60mm bases.

Here are the parts for the next one. Think I will reuse the free hand face idea

Hey all

Well Monday evening was a splurge of productivity. Managed to get three different sets of new terrain on the go at once for my Badlands set.
- Blasted Walls. Insulation foam board(where have you been all my life.) cut to 10cm in height then carved. This will be great for dividing and channeling the game.

- Space Crystals. Bigger LOS blocking versions of the red crystals posted earlier in the thread. Insulation foam board carved to shape

- Power Generator. It goes BOOM!

Will post more later.
