My GF and I love animals. She has many rescue animals and so do I. Ranging from rats, fish, cats, birds and so on. Most of these (bar the fish and cats) are noisy or smelly. The cats are ok, but I find they are a pain when playing games as they love to do what you are doing. The fish are good though.

However I got myself a Blue Tongue Lizard the other day. These guys are perfect. Every night I have had this guy hang with me. Watching me paint, played a wargame, video games, movies and anything else. They are very chill, easy to take care of and look awesome. I simply let him run out of energy when I get home (takes like 5 minutes because they have stubby legs) and then put him on my shoulder or my desk and he sits there licking things all night until bed time. I can take him driving or anywhere thats not too cold or wet.

For me, Warly the Blue Tongue Lizard has proven to be the best pet for a wargamer. They also aren't noisy, smelly or desperate for attention. Its rather nice. Unlike the other pets (bar the fish who also have a perfect record) no models have been knocked over and terrain has been left undisturbed mid game.

Whats your recommendation for a pet for a wargamer? Or any pet I guess...

Blue Tongue Lizards take my vote.

I would think a cat would be the perfect pet for a wargamer. I have heard of the cat rule where if there is any stagnation in the game, the cat is purposely placed on the table. Whatever the cat moves or knocks over is wounded or removed as a casualty. And my thinking is, if the cat is placed on the table, it probably won't get on the table by choice, knowing how cats are or seem to be.

An interesting take on cats Eadartri... make them think they're 'supposed' to be on the table and they'll avoid it like water

Those blue tongue skinks (or is it a different variety you have, OP?) are surprisingly cute. For chubby snake-lizards with stubby little legs. Surprisingly cute.

You can keep sugar gliders yeah. I'd love a pair, they're adorable. I'd love a blue tongued skink too.

Get females. Have to be a pair though. Males are....like teenagers
I keep them in a pouch around my neck. Zipped closed being they do like crawl around and at times perch on top my head

Edit

They wee a tiny bit and poop like little nuggets. I keep baby wipes in my Assault Pack
Doesn't bother me being I body searched on stiffs a couple days in the sun

I wish I thought of that with my cats. The table top wars rage constantly as they try to outwit us to get on benches etc.

Blue Tongue Skinks are what people seem to call them in the USA. In NZ and Australia we call them Lizards. And yes they are very cute. They look like Snakes with T-Rex arms really. They are intelligent as far as I can gather, but the arent as inquisitive as a rat or a lorikeet.

I highly recommend the skink mate. Honestly you can do a lot of things with them. Very laid back creatures. Plus with timed feedings and heat you can pretty much have them at your convenience and they are still happy. Although they live up to 30 years so if you want one get one sooner rather than later. Mine should die before I am 50, and I should live beyond 50.

I've always wanted to have one.

My dream pet team would be Sugar Glider, Cat, Raven, and Chinchilla.

Where are you gonna put that raven? Common ravens are upwards of 2 feet long with 4 foot wingspans, big birds. Pretty neat though.

Man... I really want one of those blue tongued skinks. The more I read the more I want one lol. Guinea pigs seem cool too but ehh... they're no stubby snake-lizard and they don't have blue tongues

I have a cat that likes to steal things. Lollipops, keys, anything that is able to be picked up in mouth and moved is taken. Well, a Chaos Raptor turns out to be very easy to pick up from the 'reserves table' and throw to the floor...

Take my advice. After having roughly 8 rescue ones, 6 inbred ones and a few store purchased ones they are among the most pathetic pets I have ever encountered. Even the most tame ones are usually very timid. They look nice and fuzzy, and we really tried to find that perfect Guinea Pig but we are never getting another one. They are also high maintenance and prone to many illnesses. The only upside is they are very cheap...

The Blue Tongue Lizard is superior in most ways. But they do cost a lot more (at least here) to get set up. I was going to get a Bearded Dragon as the pet store my GF works at got a bunch in, but they get a lot bigger than Blue Tongues and require a lot more effort costs to maintain than a Blue Tongue. Blue Tongue makes a great casual but unique pet.

I have my Rescue Pitbull Mix. She is not one of the brightest dogs I have ever owned but her loyalty is amazing. Team that up with her temperament and she is the perfect dog for a family with war gamers :-) My kids (2 and 4) rough house with her and when she finally gets fed up she stands up and walks away. When im painting or modeling she curls up next to me and lets me use her as an arm rest. Pitbulls are the best

Well I do have hundreds of chickens, turkeys, and a few geese. A raven would be childs play, especially in one of the 40x50 runs.

They are indeed cute but as with any type of squirrel they are non-stop energy and spend a huge amount of time tearing around the house.

One of my friends has some and they lost quite a bit of appeal to me when I stayed overnight at their house and woke up to one of them landing on my face like a fuzzy facehugger then proceeding to piss on the side of my nose. The males are also prone to biting and they have some sharp ass teeth.

Fuzzy facehugger isn't exactly offputting. Sounds like a glowing endorsement.

Better than a yappy little dog/rat at any rate.
