What points do people normally play? I see 500,750, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 1850, 2000 and 2500. With the new space marine codex coming out my local group has been debating doing 2300? We've done a little bit of work with the new Space Marine Codex and think that would be a good point value for games. Thoughts?

My gaming group has always been a "go big or go home" type. 2000 points is small for us. Normally we do anywhere from 3000-16000

My ork army would love to play those sizes of games. We normally do 1500-2000. Some of us like to play multiple games in a day.

From 500 (for the newer players) up to 3000. But 3000 is as a result of 2 v 2 1500pts each-type-scenario. Otherwise it's 500 - 2000.

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

It ranges from 1250-2000. I think 1500 is the most common.

3000 standard games. 1500 for Zone mortalis.

If we have multi player games we play more but have found anything below 3k just isnt very fun. Primarily this allows for the use of less common units and a larger variation in lists (i for example never play the same list twice)

our 3k games take ~3 hours to finish with experienced players.

Orks! ~28000
Chaos Dwarfs ~9000
Slaanesh ~14700

Usually 1500, larger than that and it generally takes too long to play.

1000 if you're a new player, 1850 if you've been playing 20+ games. We give a 1% 'fat' as well.

I believe we'll get to 2000 by the end of the year

I usually play 1000pts or less with a few buddies I have. Wish I could play larger games, I have about 4500pts worth in total but the guys I play with aren't as into the game as I am and don't even have half their armies built

Funny you say that cause I play orks and I have nearly 14,500 points, so I love being able to use practically my whole army

1250 because my collection is the largest between my friends and they struggle to even put 1250 on the table of their own models. Borrowing some of mine gets them to that point limit. 1850 when I can though.

Mostly 1500 or 1750, at my local gw. There's the occasional 2000 point game as well. Two 1500/1750 games take up an afternoon, which is good, as we usually finish by dinnertime.

Sub-1500 games are rare. To me, it just doesn't feel big enough.

You know, I get it that people want to play their whole army. But I just don't get it for myself. Largest I ever played was 5000 points of my Orks. Couldn't get through a game that large. Moving that many models, rolling that many dice, it drains the life from ya.

Wait, 100? Is that a typo?
Not trying to be a jerk, just curious if it's possible to play a game that low, that would seem to be not enough to buy more than one Troop for a number of armies, let alone actually set up a CAD.

Don't believe me? It's all in the numbers.

There is so much rage about my Codex that I literally made a Codex for Star Wars Trade Federation Droids so that people would play as even my home brewed rules are written with more balance in mind than what GW did to my Codex.

I agree, I played a giant battle similar size 4800 in Orks and a 200ish allied CSM. The game was just so unwieldy, 4 turns over 9 hours is exhausting.

I prefer 1500 pts, but the people I play with prefer 1850-2000 pts. Except for one guy, when we play we are always on a time limit so we do 1000 pts.

1500 pts by default, though 1000 pts. tourneys are catching in the UK and surprisingly fun.
