Space Marine Scout with Sniper Rifle

Hey all, I have some HH tidbits for you today. Specifically details of a pair of marines that make up part of an upcoming release in the future. As you all know by now the initial release will consist of some marines, cataphracti and a new dread. I have a few tidbits on the makeup of the marines I can share but very little else for you today unfortunately.

Marines

-This information is based off descriptions given to me of a pair of marines from the new marine box.
-The two marines wore Mk4 armour, namely the GW variant parts we've come to know, with a few new additions.
- One of these new additions are new backpacks, which were described to me as a cross between the old Space Crusade backpacks and the Forge World MkVI backpacks. Think 4 exposed wires on the back, and 3 'power-rungs' on the top central part of the backpack.
- The marines had proper Mk4 gauntlets rather than just the standard Mk7 arms. One of them even had an obligatory skull on his gauntlets.
- Out of the two torsos designs (Again think GW style, that weird Mk3/4 hybrid torso in the Blood Angel kits) , one bore a 'Raptor Imperialis', the other a skull with lightning bolts.
-My source also saw some other sperate bots and pieces, like a horizontal crested Sgt. Head, powersword amongst other things.
- This bit is somewhat contradictory, because as I understand the kit is meant to be made up of only Mk4 marines. However, I'm hearing reports of a Mk3 style chestpiece and gauntlets. I know a clampack is supposed to be coming with the original release so perhaps these pieces belong to that. Or alternatively these will parts for "Artificer armour" in the main box.
- In the box set there will around 20 marines which apparently amounts to 2 boxes worth of Tac. Marines, so I'd put my bets on a basic 10 man box.

Cataphracti and Contemptor

I don't have many details on these guys. Except to say some of the Contemptor weapon options will remain resin only, the kit will cover your more "traditional" options for 40k players that just want to pickup the cool model.

And the Cataphracti models might not be 100% interchangeable with the FW cataphracti. I've heard the arms and pads will come in pieces rather than 1 solid piece as they do now. (Hands still separate ofc.)

The main reason I made this post today though is because I heard the HH box might actually be coming sooner than I originally thought. I had it place for Q2 next year, with the models being released separately 5-6 months later. I'm now hearing though, that the HH box will come shortly after the Tau release. Now Tau are being released late this year, I'm pretty sure you all know that by now. Think Oct time. Now if the HH box is too be released shortly after Tau that doesn't really fit with the the Q2 release date for the box does it?

So based on this, and this is kinda speculation based on what I both do and don't know, I have a feeling we might see the HH box drop right at the end of the year/start of the next, and the kits released separately in late Q2 rather than the box. So I guess I'm kinda throwing this out there to see if any other rumourmongers have anything that correlates with this, because to me this suggests we'll see HH this year.

DISCLAIMER: I'am not in any shape or form saying we will 100% see plastic Horus Heresy this year, however based on my information this is what the signs point too. I'm throwing this out there to see if any one can formulate these little tidbits into something coherent
which lets face it isn't my strong point.

Not to be a wet blanket or anything but this whole post basically boils down to describing some stuff we're already familiar with and stating it may or may not come out in the next year?

I said it before, I'll say it again, but I'm looking forward to this.

Every time rumors about heresy era plastics, I believe it for one reason... I know this means FW would likely discontinue the respective resin models in favor of GW's larger agenda... that means buying the most high demand models from GW allowing them a better margin... that means Australian gamers will get screwed... and we all know how much GW likes to do that. That's why I believe it.

If this is true, I'm disappointed the plastic marines aren't just a plastic port of the FW ones. FW MkIV is one of my favourite armours, and GW MkIV (particularly the helmets) are pretty terrible.

Yep - The FW MkIV helmets are brilliant, the GW MkIV helmets are (IMHO) stupid looking

You mention Tau in October.. I think Darnok said yesterday on Warseer that Tzeentch stuff was still in October as far as he heard. News on that front? PM me!

None of these descriptions given are too shocking. Most people were able to speculate something like this from the rumors already given.

The real news in the claim we will see the HH set before the end of the year. I am looking foreword to this release, and would be very happy if this is true.

Also that "MKIII/MKIV" armour mentioned is HH artificer armour. FW already makes a bit that sounds very close to the description given.

I still rate any non FW HH models as up there in likelihood with the famed Blood Bowl rumour from two years ago, and last year, and the "oh look it was made up" Inquisition 40k skirmish boxed game that disappeared....... We know Fantasy is going to take the centre stage soon, realistically that carries on into 2016, a non fantasy boxed game isn't going to be slotted in IMO.

A friend of a friend that knows a woman that works in the cleaning crew at gw said that he thinks that the marines will come with backpacks helmets large shoulder pads and holding some kind of "bolter" and that it will all be packaged with pictures on . Now obviously im not saying for definite that the marines will have backpacks and helmets but i am sure from another source that they will have legs !!
