Okay, so it seems since GW have released their licence to a load of different developers we're seeing some more WHFB and 40K games popping up. It's been kinda dry since DoW/DoW II, we had Space Marine of course, but then THQ got exterminatus'd for heresy and any sequels went the way of the warp. A shame, that game was fun. Although I've read Bioware picked up the licence to Space Marine and Dark Millennium... is there still hope?

Anyway, I've always had my "dream list" of games that I want to see made with this licence. One of which is coming true - Total War: Warhammer. Oh god yes, how did it take them this long for this match-made-in-heaven? I've been a fan since the original Shogun and have always wished/hoped for this game. Another is a Call of Duty type FPS game. I know they get a lot of flak but I've (mostly, not so much with recent ones) always enjoyed the cinematic single player campaigns. Just think about the roller-coaster ride we'd get by jumping into the boots of Guardsmen, Storm Troopers, Thunderbolt/Leman Russ pilots - a Titan princeps, and the sheer scale and variety of battles and set pieces we'd see, presented with Hollywood production value visuals and voice talent. I think it'd be awesome. And with all the factions and possible campaigns they'd hardly be short on ideas/content for future instalments.

Going back to the Bioware thing, another game I'd like is one I've heard a lot of other people mention - a Mass Effect style third person action/RPG. Maybe based around a Rogue Trader crew or Inquisitor retinue. That'd be cool, too. Of course they have KotOR and Mass Effect under their belts, so we know they can handle the sci-fi genre - but can they go grimdark enough?

Finally the most recent addition to my wish list is a 40K-meets-SimCity game. A city builder/management game where you take the role of a Planetary Governor, and at the start you can pick like an agri/death/fortress/forge/hive/shrine world etc and you build up epic hive cities and the like. How cool would that be!?

Anyway, so yeah. What do you guys think? The lore and the settings of WHFB/40K are such a vast, rich resource the gaming possibilities are practically endless. What games do everyone else dream about being made?

Necromunda or Kill Team style MOBA or FPS

A Necromunda style MMORPG would be pretty neat to see with Arbites, various gangs and perhaps even genestealer cults and/or chaos cults.

And there is so much that could be done in the horror genre department with those chaos and gene stealer cults not to mention xenos infestations from the likes of the Hrud, Slaugth, Dark Eldar or maybe even Necron Flayed Ones having one of their hunts for flesh within a Hive City.

Another thing could be a turn based game akin to Fire Emblem except it's an Inquisitor of an Ordos leading his kill team/warband/merry men on a mission.

40k and fantasy have soooo much potential.

Call me old fashioned, but I wouldn't mind another RTS, but more customization to your own army to integrate it into the story. For example, choose stuff about your chapter and it's habits and whatnot. So pretty much bring that part of TT into the video game. On the other hand, something looking into the Officio Assassinorum would be interesting. Stealthy 40k game, now that would be cool IMO.

I'd love a good 40k shooter, maybe something squad-based centered around some Tempestus or Kasrkin.

A Space Marine sequel would be nifty too, maybe follow the same guy or have him issuing orders to someone new.

No interest in the popular MOBA crap, they cheapen already established universes with their beer-and-chips style of play. Not saying it wouldn't sell but I'd hope to see something with a little more depth and thought than a clone of DotA or LoL.

I'd like to see another RTS, maybe similar to DoWII - but with a bigger army possibility. Orks and Tyranids suffered in the last expansion from the lack of numbers, their one great asset. As I'm selfish and remarkably unrealistic with my wants in this genre I'd want something covering every army and have an in-depth campaign for each one.

Something like Space Marine but squad based with the ability to command units.

And while I know it'll never happen, I'd love a digital version of the table top game itself (who wouldn't?)

Yeah, that would be really cool. They're doing Blood Bowl 2, right? Why not give Necromunda some love, too! I'd like anything with the XCOM/Valkyria Chronicles mechanics, really. Speaking of VC, I'd love more games with that art style, but with more mature storytelling. A Fantasy/40K game with that presentation and gameplay would rock. I know we've got a Battlefleet Gothic game in the works, but another game I'd love would be a flight sim/dog-fighting game - either void or atmospheric (or both!).

you are in luck then; The upcoming XCOM 2 (November 2015) will have full mod support. You will be able to mod simple texts to full units/graphics animations using the Unreal Editor. I really hope someone can substitute the XCOM, ADVENT and Alien forces into Necromunda gangs. Ofcourse not-Necromunda gangs

XCOM 2 will be mod heaven, and no doubt someone will make anything 40k related

DoW 1 again.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

If it's Dark Millenium you're thinking of, yeah, it went belly up faster than a pond full of fish after a lit stick of dynamite was chucked in.

I want to see something similar to Space Marine but with a LOT of stealth elements, in which you get to have fun being a Raven Guard sneaking up behind and backstabbing people (and just shooting them, there's a time for that too.)

Sort of like the Crysis games but tuned up to 11. Cameleonine ftw.

I should think of a new signature... In the meantime, have a

Heh, I had that same idea a while back but with tau stealth suit. Something along the lines of a raid gone wrong, and you end up stranded, having to escape through imperial territory. XV15 stleah armour specifically, and you would lose your jetpack ability right after the intro (a bolter shot through the pack or something similar). And you have the strength enhancement and stuff, as well as your stealth feild, but your main generator got damaged, so you would have only one ability available at a time.

You would obviously start with a burst cannon, but having no extra ammunition, you would have to abandon it for scavenged imperial weapons.

edit: But, as you are only a tau, you would die pretty easily to anti-armour weapons, so being stealthy is a must.

Gonna toss my +1 at this too, would be epicly epic.

Only two characters would work as the main character though: Rogue Trader or Inquisitor, not that I'm complaining.

A Necromunda RPG. Not one where you play as a whole gang, rather just one character's story through the Underhive. The issue with that I suppose would be that each area would have multiple floors to it given the Underhive's structure though, not to say that there aren't massive caverns there or that players would necessarily have full access to an area. Being able to explore every nook and cranny and discover the history of the layers and layers of the place would be cool. Finding ancient tech would be cool too. Oh and the whole post-apocalyptic style thing... Plus generally the different groups in play, bringing in characters from the Ash wastes and possibly off worlders (the old man used to be a Guardsmen who went AWOL, that huge mercenary was an Imperial Fists scout who lost himself down there, or at least that's the story).

Never going to happen obviously, though is there a dedicated Necromunda RPG or is it just Dark Heresy? Hmn, you could probably mod in Necromunda to a game like Shadowrun: Returns actually... Though I think I'd prefer an FPS like Fallout 3 to that..

I want a game based around the rise and growth of a new Inquisitor.

Gameplay would be styled around Mass Effect's blend of rpg and shooting. The character's first mission would begin as an apprentice or other member of an Inquisitor's band, and end with him/her inheriting the Inquistorial Seal from his dead master. From there, you decide what type of Inquisitor to be (essentially the flavor of your style and a skill tree of sorts, for example the Xenos high level skills are alien tech and so on) as well as start building your own band. This can be drawn from all kinds of sources, from Deathwatch Marines to hive scum, to daemonhosts, to Assassins, anything an Inquisitor might get their mitts around.

Instead of the Mass Effect Paragon/Renegade system, a different type of meter is put in; Puritan/Radical, which changes depending on how tight to the book you stick and how much flexibility you have.
