What is the process if having had recent massive expense, like having had to replace your homes fething roof, you would rather not add another $300 to your expenses? Who is it best to contact at Mantic?

I guess I could just not pay, but that seems a bit off.

Is there any contents difference between the new slimline boxed Deadzone and the original (save kickstarter bonuses)? I ordered a copy from Amazon (£40 delivered via flubit, seemed a good price) and it turned up smaller than I expected!

It's a much nicer box too imho, but opening it was the usual mantic WTFery - sprues and random unlabelled baggies everywhere, plus my rulebook has a damaged cover from the scenery sprues :( I don't understand why Mantic still can't get the basics right.

Got my DZ invoice today, too. Paid immediately. This is the only charge on my card this month. Nice to get it out of the way on a quiet month.

Bit of openday news

After securing the new space and redecorating, we decided the best way to celebrate was to hold the Open Day there – yes, that means the Open Day is moving location!  Originally we were going to hold it at the Marcus Garvey Ballroom, but the new building is ready so, what better time to give everyone the chance to explore the new premises, check out some new projects, and come chat with us?

It’s not far at all from the Marcus Garvey Ballroom, but we did want to give you plenty of warning.

The new address is 193 Hempshill Lane, Nottingham NG6 8PF, and we’d love it if you came and joined us on the 17th of May for a day of mayhem, gaming and a couple of really cool on the day surprises.

Blaine will see you at the Open Day

If you’ve still not grabbed your ticket, or you’d like to bring your kids or family, we’ve got some extra news, which we’re sure you’ll love.

If you’d like to bring your children, from 11am until 2pm, Sarah and some other staff members will be running a special event for 7 to 13 year olds. They can put together models, or try their hands at painting, giving you the chance to check out some of the event at your speed.

Non-gaming parents are also welcome to stay with their children, so you could make a family day of the trip.

And of course, there will be refreshments for any adults staying with them.

Children enter free with every qualifying adult ticket, and we’ve got a fantastic discounted Group ticket if you want to come with your mates – and that’s before we even get to the tournament tickets!

And as a sneak peek, just to whet your appetite, here’s one of the really cool offers we’ll be running:

Project Pandora will be on sale for £10 a box…… That’s £10 for 20 miniatures and a game that’s really compact and a lot of fun to play.  Try your hand at the first mission, and have a look at what the team built with the new scenery, to match that first mission.
And if you like it, take one home!  Plus, the return of the Crazy box!

We’d really love to see you at the event – if you’d like to grab a ticket, just head on over to our site and we’ll see you there!

well I'll definitely be picking up a copy of Project Pandora, maybe two at that price! Id love to see how they've incorporated the dz scenery for the board.

10 pounds for Project Pandora is a STEAL.

I'm always scouring ebay for a cheap copy.

Anyone know how much it would cost to ship a copy overseas?

Still waiting for my updated survey results. It's been about a week or so. Maybe I need to go message them so I can get that all wrapped up.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Man, I *really* wish I could go. I would love a 10 pound project pandora! The least I've ever seen it for is $30. Sounds like a nice fun day of mantic goodness, I'll just have to settle for hassling whoever gets sent to Gencon.

While I liked the last open day (and I did manage to pick up my DEADZONE kickstarter early).

I found that there really wasn't quite enough to keep me occupied the entire day and certainly not enough for 4 hours worth of train journeys.

I sent an email to the guy in the PayPal account asking to cancel mine for similar reasons. It's only $20 but it's more than I can afford due to circumstances beyond my control. Shame as I was looking forward to some cheap enforcer (what were the big guys called?)

There's the one. Yeah I really wanted them but no matter how much cheaper they are than rep I cannot afford to spend money on any luxuries ATM.

I'm not in danger of starving any time soon so others have it far worse I can live without the extra toys. I'll just have to buy them at the extra cost in the future once everything is sorted.

Why do I have the suspicion that you will, in a few months, cite this as "bullet dodged"?

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me at all. The hard plastic from deadzone does look decent though.

£10 is indeed a great deal so it's too bad that I won't be going.. it looks to be a very good space corridor game for the price and I'm sure with two boxes you could get a pretty good layout with the tiles.

That said, I wonder if Mantic are clearing out their stock of the game to make way for a new version that involves a small squad of Peace Keepers, some specifically mutated Plague and either some additional plastic scenery bits to spruce up the original tiles (if they want to keep it at the same price point) or perhaps a combination of tiles and deadzone terrain in a more expensive retail box.

I doubt it, mainly due to the pressure on Jake's time as it is.

Mantic have always taken a prudent view of clearing down stock that's moving at a slower rate than they want, this is just an exercise in good cash flow management.

Maybe somebody on the other side of the pond will follow in Mantic's footsteps, letting us nab the game for a nice price as well.

Yeah, was hoping to get a deadzone demo in, but a lot of the tables were left unmanned. The one I went to before the last one was much better, they had a lot more going and there were less people. 8 hours of train journey for me!

Incidentally, if anyone is coming to Diceni in Norwich (May 5th), it looks like I might be demo'ing either Deadzone or Mars Attacks(!). I'm not a pathfinder or anything, just helping one out for the day.

Got my components as well, but still missing a Terraton codpiece for the Plague version. Guess I'll just greenstuff it.

I got a sealed bag for the arm I needed for that Plague Terraton, but what was funny was there was no head in the bag!

That is shocking, surely given your location it would not be that hard for a member of staff to drop the stuff to your door? What are you waiting on?

@Carlos13th Cheers, have shot off an email and Stewart Gibbs has dealt with it within an hour. Gutted to be missing out on the plastic Peacekeepers, Zombies etc but some things are more important.

Mantic have also announced that they have 3, rather than 1 Community Managers, including one for you over there in the States.

It seems like a step in the right direction.

Well, ya know... that game they kickstarted... De... Do... Dea... Deadzone!! Yup., that's what it was called.

Gonna try to be there on Mantic Day in may and follow up.

Ah, thought you may have just backed a few dollars and been forgotten about. But if you are missing a whole Strike Team pledge or whatever, I would get hassling all 3 new community managers

Well, on the upside, I finally received a resin master figure from the little contest they did during the original DreadBall Kickstarter. Not the one originally advertised, but hey. I guess I can now officially say Mantic completed shipping of the DreadBall 1.0 Kickstarter.

Admittedly, that was a more exotic tail-end.

No, I didn't pull my pledge. I can go to Deadzone on Kickstarter and see my pledge. I get the updates. Etc

It's in my Kickstarter profile
