This might be out of place and a bit "hug a tree" but hey what the hell
I spend a lot of time in the P&M forum, looking at peoples work and sometimes theres threads that after a week or more have zero replies despite the effort of the painter put in.
Now dont get me wrong....sometimes the quality isnt great, sometimes its pretty darn basic, so maybe users feel just to leave it be but I always feel its nice to try and say something positive or offer advice (Im a dead average painter myself).

So, its a kinda of community request or idea(?) to maybe keep an eye out for the zero feedback threads in P&M and give a little comment?
Just a thought

I like the idea. I used to be better about trying to give a gander to stuff in the P&M forums. I think I better start peeking again.

Really good idea, if we can keep this near the top of the forum then it'll hopefully get people in there.

Sticky maybe? It's asking a lot, but it's a community after all

I can get behind this idea. I used to be a little discouraged when no one but me posted on my P&M blog (although they have now), but of course I realized that I didn't have nearly enough finished stuff to show people (so that's partially on me). I sometimes like to browse other people's stuff, and when I like it, I usually say so. Posting on people's blogs is a good way to let them know (especially those who are newer to the hobby) that they are welcome in the community and that their efforts are not wasted.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

If you come across a nice piece of work why not mention it in the relevant forum?

Well, perhaps some sort of notification to the P&M blogger when someone subscribes to a thread? I know that I have done that --subscribed-- when I have nothing to say, but I want to see more work. Or some indication of the number of subscribers? Or would this suggestion be better in Nuts & Bolts?

Good idea ! Perhaps the community should give more support to young/not-that-experienced/enthusiastic painters who dare to start a P&M blog. These guys - I think I can say I'm part of the third category - make a nice effort by doing this because, with the many professional or very experienced threads, it's always intimidating to show their own work. They take pics, do their very best paintjob and very often ask for suggestions of improvements, so why don't we answer their call?

I try to reply to zero-reply threads whenever I spot them slipping through the net, but I've been distracted by my own projects too much to do so lately

Guess I have some catching up to do

I try to vote for a few gallery images every time I visit Dakka, and several times I really wanted to comment on them. Main thing that stops me is that these are from some (sometimes significant) time ago, back to 2012 or somesuch, and thus I have no idea whether an author even notices comments. I will try to frequent P&M section more, and not only to update my own blog.

A good reminder. I comment on stuff I find interesting, but I could check more often. I find that sci fi stuff tends to get more replies generally, and historical and fantasy stuff tends to be more in need of love.

I like to try and comment on the stuff no one has looked at too, because I'm still pretty new and still learning so it's always great when someone comments on anything I post. I feel like I should pay it forward so to speak. :p

A recommendation to those with the zero reply threads. Go and comment in other P&M threads. I know I've looked for P&M threads from people who have commented in mine. It's a way of introducing yourself to everybody else.

A lot of zero comments of late in the P&M forum I have found.
Could be the summer time with peeps on holiday etc or maybe more pics of late.
But just a quick reminder to take a look at others work and leave a comment

Well said, Ratius. I have gone and dispensed some of what I like to think of as my wisdom and support.

Just gone and found the first blog with no comments and left some encouragement.

I've got comments on my blog, but not many. It can sometimes be discouraging when I post updates and get no responses, but maybe people are happily subscribed and reading, just not commenting. Who knows?

I did ask if there's a way to see how many subscribers I have, but I was told that wasn't available and I should just check the number of views.

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

Well done peeps!
Good work on the blogs Whittle, I had forgotten about them

And dont be afraid to comment on a poor miniture - as long as its positive, it can help someone improve!
I've seen some where I think "ouch!" but maybe comment on how it can improve or touch up the base etc.

Peace out xxx

Try putting links to your blogs in your signature. Thats how I found Wyrmalla's excellent Fallout, Elder Scrolls and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. blogs, and I've now added my own Fallout and Zombicide blogs to my own signature.

I agree - sig links are very useful. As well as that, people who post in their own blogs also need to learn to read and (regularly) post in others' threads as well if they want to increase their own readership. That's something that really invites reciprocity and builds community.
