Not even for terrain? Glad you went with the skypad though, I think it would be kind of cool to do the statue in a ferrus metal rather than the traditional copper/patina combo. Nothing quite says crumbling civilisation like rusted statues

Don't forget to add "tags" various soldiers and civillians have made on it
Also - I think you need to have lots of small scraps of paper on the base where people looking for missing relatives/friends have left messages for one another before the sector was abandoned.

Skyshield Landing pad! I am so excited to paint this one. Lots of weathering and fun. This is another pain in the ass build or maybe I just suck at modeling Here you go and enjoy

Oh, I knew it was a SS, but assumed you were doing something else with it. Is the doorway an entrance to an underground bunker, or something more sinister?

Very nice
But I can't help but think how good that landing pad would be mounted on top of a baneblade chassis...
Sort of like those portable bridges and roads the army carries round on the back of tanks.

Oh Silver... you are giving me baneblade remorse
Just kidding!
But a bridge layer would be kinda cool
Thanks as always,

That photo is amazing, I laughed for a good minute solid .
Back on-topic however, I think a water-treatment plant would be good to build next then build a canal system or something from that. Also do you have any craters that you could use to fill in gaps on the board? If not then Amera do some great short term stand-in models at a low cost. They aren't top notch on detail but they allow you to build up a cityscape relatively cheaply until you have the time money to swap them out.

I am making some storage tanks for the city, also roads at some point. Thanks for the comment and suggestion, to answer your question yes I do have craters http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/158113-.html?m=2 and http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/157791-.html?m=2I just forgot to throw them on! I just wanted to see what a possible layout of my city would look like! Trust me when I am finally finished the city will not be as sparse
Here is the storage tanks I am getting next week. I will have to eat pringles to make it work, I know the price we pay for our wargaming

also here is the picture that inspired me to do a rail yard
Thanks again,

No problem buddy, that is one of the reasons I like Dakka so much I have only had to deal with a few muppets but for the most part everyone is positive and is always willing to help.
Make sure you start up a PM Blog of your own when you get going with your own city

And Mike - if you are thinking about doing a canal system, check out S6 ( they have a banner and an account here) - nice guy as well. Panic has one of their canal sets and it looks really good - especially when they weathered it.

Yeah, I've seen Panic's canal system in person and it does look good. Though I might be tempted to email S6 and ask if they can supply the "water" in something other than green as it is quite bright, even with a dark backing image.

hehe, i like dakka dakka, so far in my few months i have been apart of dakka dakka, everyone has been great and helpful to me! And i hope when i get more experienced at everything to do with Warhammer, i can help other people by passing on my knowledge!
Yes, i will definitely be making a PM Blog of my own City of Death to show everyone my progress! And hopefully maybe i would be able to give other members of dakka some ideas that i have had with a City of Death! But right now unfortunately i am at the beginning of moving house and i have packed up most of my Warhammer stuff carefully to keep them protected for when i get to the new house.
But over the last few weeks i have been collecting things from GW and other places i can use on my City of Death! And of course have been planning some ideas on paper so i don't forget when it comes to making my actual board!
For the time being though, i am currently making and painting a 5 man Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard. One of the only things i havn't packed away yet haha.

I like it but I think the plastic sheet plexi looks really phony I would probably use water effects
Something to think about though
Thanks Silver,

You could always add realistic water on top of the plastic
As I said, he has mentioned that he can do the water in different colours if you ask him. Panic's website also has the underlays he uses as free downloads.

I just finished reading Panic's thread, I have to say I am liking it a lot! I also like your canal inserts better then the ones he used. As usual I hear my wallet getting lighter thanks to my friends on Dakka
Thanks again Silver, and thanks again to everyone else for your comments and support
