I've got some of those Concord figures floating around- even one of their heavy howitzers (had some idea of converting them into counts-as Elysians); really like what you've started with these! Nice, clean, simple scheme, but with great shading and really, quite realistic (at least, to me). I'm going to try something like that when I get started on mine.

I know I know I know , stop getting your head turned by every pretty little thing that struts by .

Well it gets worse....I saw a review of a cheap little game and fell in love off the bat. So I give you my new soon to be set aside passion.....

GASLANDS

rulebook from Osprey Games $19.00. 64 pages covers everything and has templates inside of it. Or download it from their site for around $15. Their site also has all the templates, dice stickers, tokens, and car sheets online for free.

What else do you need?

Assorted Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars, dice (I used my MODCubes and Star Wars X-Wing inserts, but you can use D6s and just learn what the numbers would represent), some D6 for your gear and shooting/evading and a 3x3’ table and junk to be obstacles.

I played a simple game with all 3 of my kids and we all enjoyed it. Basic set up just to learn the turns, shooting, hazards and stuff. Everyone drove a middleweight car with forward mounted machine guns.

Cars above will get the chop shop treatment and hopefully be in action soon.

Peace out .

Gaslands is a lot of fun. My 8-year old enjoyed the game immensely the one time we played-- the Rule of Carnage in particular.

It’s a great little game, you and the boys should try it out. Small table, terrain, cheap models, customizing

JoshInJapan wrote:Gaslands is a lot of fun. My 8-year old enjoyed the game immensely the one time we played-- the Rule of Carnage in particular.

Yes, for those not in the know, the rule of Carnage is basically: if there is any disagreement on how a rule should be played out, or if two rules seem to contradict each other, then go with whichever rule would cause the most Carnage . Yes they want it to be Cinematic with lots of explosions and death.

Well I stopped by Walmart on my way home for milk and coffee creamer for the wife. Also grabbed some more hot wheels cars. This 50th anniversary series has some great older (1970s cars, same vintage as me ) which I think will be great to make a Warden Cadelia team.

Warden Cadelia is the Warden of the São Paulo People’s Penitentiary. They seriously take inmates, strap them into cars (rolling coffins) weld them in and tell them to win the race if they want to live. If they live then they get time served taken off their sentence. If they die, get the squeegee out and strap in a new team member. The team gets cheaper cars (but at a reduced hull point level as they are buying junkers) and the team gains audience votes when their cars explode good for the team, but bad for the drivers. So cheap cars and lots of them. I’m thinking fewer guns, but lots of rams and stuff as they can take skills which give them bonuses with rammingand smash attacks.

The two cars I took apart yesterday will be part of a Mishkin team. Mishkin is a crazy Russian scientist who uses electrical weapons and other crazy gear. I’m really wanting to turn the police pursuit car into a newer version of Outlaw from Twisted Metal.

Well on to trying to pop the rivets out of the prison cars and get them primed today. Thinking rusty car primer as a base coat, or painting them all jumpsuit orange .

Edit before I leave for work.

Primed all of the Warden cars

Removed all the plastic windows on them and chose the first rig to set up. I had been considering weapons the other night and I’ve seen GW weapons on cars and they look ridiculous due to their oversized nature in 28mm, and would look worse here in my humble opinion. Then I remembered all the Dreamforce Eisenkern troopers and weapon sprues I had. Some of the items just look perfect for the size, so I’ll use those. The first car I chose had no engine cover and a large exhaust head on the front. Since Wardens like to ram I figure I’d build a ram on this one, add the obligatory cage around the compartment so the driver can not escape, and then add some weapons. Well I really wanted the first to make an impact so he was getting an explosive ram , two panzerfausts provide that effect on the front ensuring the first meeting this guy has with an opponent goes off with a bang . I also decided he needed some rear protection so I gave him a smoke dispenser from bits from the Eisenkern mule sprue and then added an Eisenkern rifle on the top center to be a forward facing machine gun. A little plasticard to channel the smoke from the engine to the smoke dispenser and voila.

car/cell 1 is constructed. He has gotten some paint since this pic, but we will see how it looks......later.

Edit 2: okay its later.....sort of

Still just basecoated.

Gaslands has definitely piqued my interest.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Oh and this is a spiritual successor to that game with a much smoother mechanic. Lots of old Dark Future players jumping in on this.

I’ve never been good at Batreps as I get stuck into the game and forget to take notes . Also Twisted Metal cars and trucks will make their appearance in my gangs. Especially Outlaw.

Viktor von Domm wrote:awesome upsycling theo!

Not only upsycling, but full out repurposing too.

So more work on the Wardens (prisoners in cars)

Also found some Jurassic Park cars that just oozed Rutherford military guys, so painted them black.

Also possible new recruits for Rutherford.

Also stopped by the model train shop near me since hot wheels are close enough to HO scale and grabbed a box of busted derelicts to use as terrain. I’m thinking of a train wreck table or an old switching station sort of set up that’s been long abandoned. The cars and engines are all just the plastic frames with no guts. $10 for a box full.

Yep, lots of great options and pics to steal ideas from.

Photo drop

Cut the shell of the engine at an angle and glued it to some VCT as a base. Train went off track and half buried itself. I’ll get some filler around it in the future.

Two similar caboose aith missing top part. Each will get turrets mounted on that spot which will be removable so I can use them in a deathrCe or regular terrain.

Got to get back to work now.
