So at my FLGWS, I played an 1850 point game with my Ultramarines VS Blood Angels.

It had to be the single worst game of 40k, period.

My army was led by Big M.A.C. Daddy with his Terminator armour (DEEPSTRIKE SPAM AHOY LADS) and my opponent got really salty because I took a Lord of War and he didn't when he could have just as well taken that one guy (Brother-Whossisface)who gives you +1 WS and IN so he would have a WEAPON SKILL 9 INITIATIVE 6 UNIT (Sanguinor) (Which can probably give MC a run for his points at I;5) for the same price as a damn Primarch. Who did he take? A vanilla captain with a Chainsword and Bolt Pistol, no relics, no bike, nuthin'.

Then I murder his Terminators with an Ironclad Dreadnought (Sir Kegnought the Drunkard, for he cant hit theand he then calls bs on Seismic Hammers?
After three turns of grav-bike spam I finally say 'feth it Orbital Bombardment' and kill two bikes, (scatter srsly) and run my Rhino into the other one.

Finally I get through his wall of meat and BAWKSES and kill his captain in one turn (Gauntlets have no Initiative penalty now! looool) so he gives up.

Now he insists I use Vanilla captains whenever we play.

Yeah, on a bike with Burning Blade, Shield Eternal, Artie Armour and Chapter Master upgrades, I ain't stupid.

Anyone else have unwarranted salty opponents?

This is why I like tournaments. I never have to hear jack about how my list is "too much" etc.

Because we totally have a couple of those guys here who won't be happy unless you're playing with like half the points they are. If something of theirs dies, they're complaining about whatever killed it.

Unfortunately I only get to play in Tournaments with people alot better than me. Last time I did place third (GSF and ATF, I had to)
(One guy has done Wolves since 2nd and hd hasn't lost with them in my memory, he got 1st) and I was beaten by NECRONS (cue "I knew it!"). There is an upcoming one for HH (4000 point lists) and I have a feeling that Warhound I recently ordered might come in handy. IF I KNEW WHICH BOOK HAD THE RULES!

Honestly the gargantuans and superheavy ruin the game for me, but Marneus Calgar is a pretty balanced LoW

If the guy just takes a bog standard captain with literally no wargear then he's an idiot for not just having a chaplain or librarian or something anyway just tell the guy he'd be better of not wasting 90 points of a guy with a bolt pistol

Why aren't you guys chatting about the game experience you're expecting?

Nothing wrong with running a game without power units but that's something to work out beforehand.

The OP was kind of hard to read, assuming the OP is a child perhaps? Either way, it just seems that there as little to no dialog between the OP and his opponent, which probably lead to different expectations. In the OP's defense, though, your opponent seems a little out of touch with today's game of DIY Herohammer.

Sorry about the horrid grammar, I just woke up.
Actually there was alot of lip on his side, I generally try to keep chat to a minimum to give my brain a chance to plan and not draw attention to our game (People coming over to give advice to the losing side, which sucks for me because I don't want advice or it gives the opponent an advantage and destroys the point of a game by unbalancing 40k more.). My opponent has been playing 40k for months now (4-5 months iirc) with his first army being Tau, second Bloods and soon Tyranids.

I had a unit of 20 gretchins shoot, charge, and kill an Eversor in melee the other day.

Gretchins are slowed OP apparently, because "no matter what you have you have to hit them on 3s and wound them on 2s"

Planning on sweeping NOVA with my secret OP grotvolution strat.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Its freakin Calagar, hes been the same for like 4 Editions. Except now his Gauntlets arent Unwieldy anymore and he isnt an HQ choice. So they moved him. Whoop Dee Do! Its his fault for not putting a single upgrade on his own Captain (sounded more like a Sargent then a Captain)

I enjoy using Draigo in my pure GK lists, because he's a fun unit and a neat beat stick. Yep, he's a Lord of War. Let's me take a cool Libby as my Warlord, and makes my army fun for me to play. As the only Storm Shield in my army, and his always there Gate of Infinity, I use him more like the Land Raider he costs as much as than as some uber mini-Primarch. If my opponent can't deal, that's on them. However, it's pretty hard to call fail on me when I'm playing the underdog list.

My friend recently sold his Death Guard to buy GK stuff.
Is Castellan Crowe a good HQ choice?

As a person who got into 40k entirely because of Castellan Crowe back in 5th edition... no. He costs too much and provides very little to the army. He's good at challenges, but how often do you actually challenge? His warlord trait can be neat if you stick him in a big unit, but overall I'd rather spend 170 points on a Librarian with the book relic.

Bearing in mind it's my friend and not me, I don't know how often he challenges.

I can understand your friends frustration as a csm player you find caller extremely annoying as he requires me to either

Or B somehow kill his unit and then kill him at range before he's ran through alot of my army.

True that. Someone called me out for bringing three Flyrants to a 1250 tournament, even though they had Belakor and three Helldrakes.

Might have been the fact I added a VSG to the list too.

Imperial Knights are problematic enough, but having characters as Lords of War is hardly cheese. From the way things have been going with GW releases most of the character LoW are balanced and perfectly acceptable in any game.

Unless it's Logna Grimnar on his sleigh. That thing to too stupid to ever see the tabletop.
