Do you have a unit that seems to consistently do good deeds and kick derrière?
For me its my Master of Ordinance. He likes destroying stuff. His glory days were in 6th. His biggest moment of triumph was exploding a Landraider, followed closely by the time he blew up a Longstrike Hammerhead.
Even so in 7th he still has his moments and pulls his weight. Like the time he scored a direct hit on some Gretchin camping some backfield objective that I would never have reached with troops, enabling me to table, thus winning an epic contest I was well behind on purge points.
My Company Commander deserves honourable mention because for some reason the troops always follow his orders. Maybe its the big hat.
At this point it's my Lord Commissar.
He's not killed anything spectacular, but he's somehow always standing at the end, especially after the opponent makes a beeline for him and tries to get an "easy" Assassination objective. He also likes running in and punching things and scaring them away from "his" tank.
I ended up copying the torso and magnetising it to the Leman Russ he pals around with just because it amuses me. That means he can commandeer things like glasses frames, name-tags, cats, cars and tablet cases.
My Canoness is very good at sacrificing her squad to bring down a large monster. She loves saving the day...even if she was the one who put them in danger in the first place. >.>
Also, my Seraphim. They are all about the reckless deep strikes.
-Dude boltpistols terminators down.
-Regularly is the last guy standing in his unit.
-Has taken out an entire Libby Conclave three times in a row.
-Almost always makes his points back
-Often makes double his point in kills
I4 S10 AP2 puts in serious work against anyone he touches.
Tank Shock(which I've used against Crisis Suits and Pathfinders to great effect) is fantastic - one shot only for overwatch is brilliant for an Assault based army.
Mine would be my Tanith scouts. These boys keep going and going.
Last game against necron, the scout leader there with the cap went up against the necron in hand to hand combat and stayed with his squad for 3 round in CQB. Even killed one too! He did the 1st and Only proud
One of my veteran sergeants once inflicted fifteen or twenty (whatever max warrior squad size was in the pre-5th codex) casualties in one turn to a Necron list, phasing their army and pulling out the second greatest comeback I've ever seen in a game of 40k.
Spoiler:
Front, center. Sergeant Anytos.

My assault marines. Those boys are constantly taking on tyranid mcs in hand to hand combat. Sad thing is with my oppnents abysmal rolling they usually score a kill
TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum
I have a IG veteran sergeant who constantly kills hordes of enemies. He single handedly wiped a unit of pink horrors due to killing two of them, then the unit wiping due to demonic instability. Constantly bolt pistols MEQ's and tau, never dies and helped turn the tide against some ork boyz who managed to get into melee.
After that it would be my generic guardsman 30 man blob. They love shooting everything to death. Sure they are quite vulnerable to ordnance, but I constantly see them wipe out other units and survive the entire game.

Brother-Champion Bermudez, my company Champion. He has one wound, a 6++ save, and a power sword, and he's killed at least a dozen HQs in his day. One game he killed three Ork warlords. What a champ.
Madness is however an affliction which in war carries with it the advantage of surprise - Winston Churchill
I don't keep track of individual models' performances, but my not-Celestine (that I always call Celestine when gaming) has taken down more than one mob of Orkz on her own. Or at least she used to, before my mom started accepting challenges with her Nobz and frequently insta-gibbed her with those Power Klaws.
It's, ah, been a while since I played. All of my 40k stuff is packed up in boxes because we're trying to move.
Oh, I have a Space Marine Scout with a Sniper Rifle who was the sole survivor of his squad during a mad dash across the field to lay claim to the objective worth 4 points, managed to get himself in cover behind a defence line while still claiming the objective, and weathered a not-insignificant amount of incoming Ork fire from Lootaz and a Big Mek with SAG (they had nothing better to shoot at, since all I had left was him and Celestine, who was whittling down a mob of Boyz in melee) as well as a Killa Kan with a Grotzooka. After Celestine finished off her enemies, she took a Slugga round from the Nob of a second Boyz mob during Overwatch, that Scout was my last model left on the table and won me the game. Proof that no battle is entirely hopeless, even if you're down to 2 infantry models who are outnumbered 15:1. Sure, he had a 2+ cover save, but he made every single one.

I have a unit of carapace armoured Veterans whom took on a 8 man plus captain pre heresy Terminator Meteor Hammer unit and killed them all.
My command tank is famous for not dying.
My Veterans with camo gear and Heavy Bolters are famous amongst my opponents for being devils to kill, One section of them withstood several turns of sniper fire from Scouts with Telion, plasma and bolter fire from a tactical squad and a Vindicaire. Eventually, with only three members left they captured a vital objective and won me the game.
Lukas Caine. My old Company Commander with Carapace, a Plasma Pistol and a Power Sword whom single handedly took on and killed: My friends home brewed primarch, a Vindicator and a 5 man Sternguard squad. He is now in storage with the rest of the Khantonian 13th, but if my friend should get too cocky I will always threaten to unleash him once more.
My Warmington on Sea command section (yes, I have the actual Dads Army miniatures) held up an entire Legion of the Damned squad for three turns, killing all but one of them. Then the game ended. Bare in mind that this CCS does not have carapace, it only has flak, camo gear and a medic.

My Sternguard in a drop pod. Every game I have fielded them they have made their points back and then some from wiping out an entire squad of Chaos Space Marines, to taking down a Daemon Prince with AoBF in turn 1 before he could even do anything and then taking on a 3 man unit of Obliterators in combat and tying them up for a couple of turns. They are my turn 1 alpha strike/go kill unit. I point them at what I want taking down and they have yet to fail me.
"For The Emperor and Sanguinius!"
My Armies:
Blood Angels, Ultramarines,
Astra Militarum,
Mechanicus
In Kill Team I have a SM squad that has so far managed to survive every game I used them without ever suffering a single casualty. Within this squad there are two specific marines that get almost all the kills. In my fluff, they are having a competition about it:

I have a WHFB Bretonnian knight painted by my little sister that I often proxy as a warbiker (I have 9 bikes and a whole lot of other stuff to buy on a limited budget before I spend the money to get one more bike). This knight consistently survives games, has taken out tanks in close combat, and shot down flyrants.
Culexus assassin. He's held a wraithknight (7e gargantuan version) in melee for 4 turns, sucked up tons of firepower including tanking a full wave of D scythes from webway wraithguard and battlecannons from IK's, backhanded a malanthrope like it was nothing, he CONSTANTLY rolls hot on wounding normal non-psykers with his s2 ap- psyk out grenade, has solo-beat and swept necron warrior squads, went ham on a white scar biker command squad and nixed 3 of them on the charge after killing one with his grenade, and was a huge factor in a GT where he let me table an Eldar list turn 2.
My Twin autocannon Dreadnought Scipio has always been a rock for my unstable dice rolls to cling too. My favorite kill has to be a Deamon Prince he killed in one round of shooting where all my vindicare tanks failed. Plus recently he has taken down knights and other vehicles. Defiantly one of my favorite units.
Well, my chaplain has always done great things. He's dropped bel'lakor in close combat (with invis up), he's taken on pretty much every eldar HQ, and it is always him versus huge blobs of enemies, and he usually wins.
He even took a full swing of knight attacks, and survived.
Well, until he got stomped
Arjac for me. I cannot tell you the number of guys, monsters, vehicles, etc. that he has brought down. Even when he was rediculiously expensive, he was always worth it.
See pics of my Orks, Tau, Emperor's Children, Necrons, Space Wolves, and Dark Eldar here:
My smelly rabble of cultists has triumphed over some unlikely enemies in close combat including Dante and his golden flyboy bodyguards and daemon princes.
To agree with the other poster, the basilisk for me constantly takes out crews, including an entire CSM devastator squad turn one.
I foolishly put a lascannon on my Valkyrie but against the odds the pilot is a crack shot and gets his 4+ most of the time to hit . I've seen two pie plates fly way past large teams but the lascannon shot still kill.
Kudos goes to my company advisers, who have not only murdered tons of beings with their strikes or powers, but once saw chase down a team of eldar jetbikes and punch them to death. ,

Lately my Dark Angels Sniper Scouts have been kicking some ass, including the highlight of my last tournament outing-taking the final hull point off of a Lynx on a Skyshield.

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.
Grotsnik Corp. Sorry, No Refunds.
My one Carnifex named 'Can Opener' has never failed to kill his target on the charge or first round of combat, everything from Ork trucks to bastions (when they can be destroyed), his favorite are Necron repair barges.
