Time to pick what we're painting next month! The suggestions this time round were inspired by a quick flick through my music collection, and one that carried over from last month. As usual, the poll will run for 2 days, with the winner being next month's theme and the runner up going forward to December (or maybe January, as I might have something a little different for the festive season. Everyone loves a Christmas Special!).

Without further ado, the options:

'Tis But A Scratch: The model must have some kind of injury or wound. Anything from a Space Marine nursing a paper cut to a knight with that has no legs or arms (yes he does!)

Fear of the Dark: the model should be associated with night/darkness/shadows. Anything from a psyker dealing in dark magiks to a shadowy, stealthy assassin in the shadows.

Sympathy for the Devil: This one's for the baddies! Anything villainous, nefarious or evil goes, from a lowly minion to an evil mastermind.

Princes of the Universe: the model should be in some way greater than the 'norm' for its species. Examples include a Chaos Lord pumped up on demonic power, or an Ork who is simply da biggest and da best!

And for those young enough not to recognise these song titles, go and rummage through your parents' record collection... What's a record? It's like a big, flat Ipod that you have to put into a special machine to get music to come out...

Gotta go with Princes of the Universe. It'll give me an excuse to paint up my Chaos Lord on a Juggernaut. I probably have a miniature I could do for all of these categories with the possible exception of 'Tis but a Scratch.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

My thoughts exactly...

Beware The Court of Owls, that watches all the time,
Ruling Gotham from a shadow perch,
behind granite and lime.
They watch you at your hearth,
They watch you in your bed,
Speak not a whispered word of them
Or they'll send The Talon for your head...

Nah, I'm the same. Barely had a Halloween theme mini. Certainly don't have anything for these.
Unless Princes could be Princesses, and I'll get out my KoS... Think that may need more than a month though.

Quite the relief to hear It's not just me. I've got nowhere this month despite massive motivation. RL has been very hard - details unnecessary. I'll see how I go with the Balrog to try and get something in but I know I won't be able to muster any creativity to think of anything that will fit the themes (feels weird - I really enjoy sitting down for a few hours planning how to fit what I've got to the theme choices over the voting days)

I've just not had inspiration this month either. I was quite excited early on, but it's faded. Don't think it was necessarily the subject matter.

Guys, no need to worry about not fitting the theme perfectly if that's not doable! If it's even vaguely related, it goes!

Oh we know - old hats now I just like the challenge of varying aspects of my armies to include a theme. Will be disappointed if I can't put something in this month - 2 months in a row without an entry will be such a downer and then maybe a third month with no motivation

Get Yorkie's Leman Russ into any of these.

Pfft. at least make it challenging.

Tis but a scratch - battle damage it, maybe even have it throw a track (easy to model, and easy to repair after the comp)

Fear of the dark - build it a diorama base by sitting it behind a wall with just the muzzle pointing out a window

Sympathy for the devil - chaosify it

Princes of the universe - put Cain on top of it

Honestly, are you even trying?

Looks like princes will win, as for that what would you all rather see a trygon or mawloc? I don't intend on playing nids ever I just like the way it looks and the way the scheme is on it

Easy (was actually my idea for an entry)

Fear of the dark - space hulk marine facing one direction, stealer behind him, approaching...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
BC, if that doesn't qualify for Princess of the Universe, I don't know what will...

I'll be throwing my hat into the ring if the Princes of the Universe wins and will be entering my up-and-coming Power Armored Librarian with a Jump Pack.

Just got the bits in the mail today to get some preliminary assembly finished. Have one last Honor Guard/Command Squad veteran to paint, but I should be able to assemble and paint it in this coming week before month's end.

Probably won't win, when I look at the other talent I'll be up against, but it'll be a fun project all the same.

Take it easy for now.

Ive got a be'lakor who decided to try fly off the table and broke arms and legs off, finally got him rebuilt and would like to enter my 1st monthly paint with him since he has been a labour of love.
