So, it seems that a new loyalty card is coming !
But don't get too excited: the benefits are laughable:
150€ for a dice, 300 for a pin's (symbol of Tzeentch), and 450 for a t shirt (symbol of Tzeentch too, and the 4 chaos symbol on the back)...
The Bordeaux (France) Games Workshop center announced on its fb page that it come back at least until April.

I'm very disapointed...

The dice is a six-sided die, but on the location of the six there is a 7

It's strange everything is marked by the symbol of Tzeentch.
Do you think it announce something else ?

Tzzentch, changer of ways, god of life, perhaps to symbolize GW turning over a new leaf and blessing it's customers with gifts?

Or another devious scheme to screw everyone over, just as planned?

Pay 150€ to get a die you may not use in a game.

GW marketing at its best.

Why don't they just sell the tshirts too?

Most of the rewards for the original Skullz program weren't particularly exciting either... It's still free stuff rewarding people for purchasing.

I remember actually getting useful stuff for free or at a discount with that army card stuff. Buy X standard and X elite and get Y or sth.

All big-brand loyalty cards are effectively a way of monitoring a single customer's spending pattern, and masking market research as consumer rewards.
Basically GW is giving you a small treat for answering a survey that you don't have to do anything out of the ordinary to complete.

I know folks who will spend that in a quarter, and a small die won't change the fact. But it means GW now knows how purchases are grouped and where from.

Embrace it, complain about it, it was never designed to benefit you.

.

You can't use a pin or a tshirt in a game either. Odd thing to pin a complaint on, to be honest.

And really (ignoring for a moment that you're not paying 150€ for a die, you're paying 150€ for 150€-worth of merchandise and a die) I would expect that after you point out to your opponent that the face with a '7' on it is a '6', it's not really going to be any different to using any of the multitude of Logo dice out there.

A t-shirt isn't quite supposed to be used in a tabletop game. Unlike a die.

I remember getting random free models in mail orders.

And store sales, with grab bags.

Also mail order minis by weight and 50% store discount as a redshirt.

Now I can get a die I can't use. Still, props for effort?

And...?

It's a bit of fun, not a serious product release.

Sometimes we all just take this stuff far too seriously.

I know we will never get this again but I remember calling up their online ordering back in the 90's.

My parents had told me I could get some 40k stuff with a budget of £100 for Christmas the guy on the phone did a fair few deals on blister packs and boxes which worked worked out to be a pretty good Eldar army set for a decent (well compared to now) price.

At the time, the Mechanicus stuff was exciting. But it was 100 skullz and therefore unreachable (for me at least).

My response is pretty simple:

I'll buy GW stuff at 25% off from a discount store online. Then, with the $36 or so that I've saved, I'll buy a 'dice' of my choosing without some cheesy symbol on it, and use the rest of the money to treat the family to dinner or something.

Or, if my FLGS has what I want, I'll buy my stuff from them, get 10% off and use the $15 to buy a 'dice' of my choosing without some cheesy symbol on it, and use the rest of the money to treat myself to lunch.

GW's "perks' are rarely 'perks'. Like BC said, this program isn't meant to 'benefit' you at all, really.

This is literally the littlest treat they could give you. The only way it could be less on their part is if they just emailed you a picture of your reward instead of actually sending it to you.

Finally, a way to roll a 13 for the screaming bell to win any game of AoS outright

They could take the picture of it then email it to your nearest store instead of you

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I would still prefer a points card personally. 1 point for every £1 you spend with 1 point being worth 1p. Standard fare in the UK.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I can't help but think about how much money they'll waste on this promotion - designing and printing the cards/stickers, the staff time to explain and manage them. All for what seem like totally crap deals.

Why not just include the die with any sale of over £50 and leave it at that?

For a loyalty card, I was expecting something like the old ones - make 10 purchases over £10 and get a £10 voucher or a free blister. It's still a long way short of a 10% discount but it doesn't feel like you're getting so obviously shafted.

I bet it's not cumulative either, spent 50€ and get 2 stickers, spend 40€ and only get 1 sticker. So you could potentially be spending 295€ before getting that first die. Worse if it's 1 per transaction, so if you spend 100€ on a single item you'll get one sticker and not 4.

On the face of it, this is a pretty crap reward.
