So I've run the numbers on this bundle that GW have up on the website for the Hunter Cadre...

Seperate products come to £469, but the price of the bundle is £499??

Am I missing something here?

Nope, the extra cost is for the time saved from having to add all items on their own. It's just one click away and time is money!

Happens sometimes with these big bundles. The prices of the bundles and everything get set before the actual product releases, and sometimes the prices of individual products get changed during that time.

The difference in USD is $50.

Pretty despicable way of conning your customers, especially if they're willing to lay out £499 on toy soldiers. =/

Oh man, I just calculated the current price I could buy this bundle at from Wayland Games (using the retaliation cadre bundle as well) and it comes to £355.20

God. Fething. Damn.

Honestly, rather than post about it here, why not contact GW themselves?

If it is a mistake($50 difference suggests that SOMETHING is missing/mispriced), then they can fix it. We can't.

Additionally, these bundles NEVER save you anything. Unless you see a photo of a box in the various shots? You're not saving a cent.

Probably just a mistake. But no, what you said, Daffy Duck! It's totally despicable!

Honestly why? More like obviously do post it here to ensure the unsuspecting don't overpay to do asinine incompetence.

I don't think the "unsuspecting" who would be reading about this bundle here would overpay due to asinine incompetence.

To put an end to everyone trying to one-up each other, I'll state why I posted this - three reasons:

1) To find out if I was indeed missing anything

2) To bring this to the attention of anyone who doesn't know about other discount stores (when I first joined Dakka over a year ago, I had no idea stores like Wayland Games existed)

3) In hope that anyone who might be clued-up on this kind of thing could give any insight.

Is there even a compelling reason to ever buy from GW directly? No savings = why even go on the website.

Because GW actively doesn't allow other sites to use a shopping cart system, so you have to email or call them for a quote on the product :/

GW and their infinite generosity to their costumers and distributors

Or you know, the easier version of that which is using a local store or Ebay, because there's no wait time.

Though not everyone is used to this kind of thing, so some people will buy it from GW just to save themselves the wait, such as parents buying things for kids. It also was the final straw for why MWG shut down their online store completely, so it does impact others.

Thought something was off when most of those sites were .uk and all of them use pounds, or AUD in the case of the last one. Apparently it's only in North America that they have that stupid policy. I'm guessing they just couldn't get away with it in other countries outside of US and Canada. :

For the reasons set forth below, GAMES WORKSHOP believes that its best interests are
served by reserving online retail sales of its products in North America to GAMES WORKSHOP’S
own corporate website. GAMES WORKSHOP does not permit the online retail sale of its products by
Retailers located in the United States or Canada. By way of illustration, but not limitation, North
American Retailers are not permitted to sell GAMES WORKSHOP products on any website, webportal,
third-party web-portal or other Internet-based platform of any kind. [b]This prohibition
includes any form of online shopping cart that would enable a Consumer to order or purchase
GAMES WORKSHOP products on-line[/b

/shrug.

I'm guessing in most places it's not, but here and in Canada they can just not supply people who try to provide a good shopping experience for their customers. That policy change actually hurt a lot of businesses who were doing the online retailing thing.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

Because GW isn't obligated to provide retailers with inventory at a discount. They can't stop a store from selling its existing inventory online, but once GW stops selling them new inventory with the standard retailer discount their profit margins will disappear and they'll quickly go out of business. So if you want to do more than a quick going-out-of-business sale you play by GW's rules.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Just use Amazon in the US. You can find almost any GW product you want at some sort of discount.

Or just buy from places with a static discount.

Frontline Gaming and thewarstore are both 20% off normal items, as an example, all you need a calculator(if even that)

Frontline will also do direct only things at 10% off.

I've used both, and honestly it is negligible additional work over using amazon and saves a solid 10-15% more.

Rather than going back and forth with snarky remarks and talking about discounters, I just E-mailed them and told them that their bundle 'deal' is AU$63 more expensive than just buying the parts normally.

Really not that difficult guys...

[EDIT]: The real eye-opening thing was being able to see the price creep between this Tau release and the last, and even the one before that. Stealth Suits are still AUD$37, Crisis Suits have gone up a whole dollar, the Path-Finders are AUD$48 (10 models + 3 Drones) whereas the Fire Warriors are AUD$85 (10 models + 3 Drones), and then the Riptide is AUD$90, yet the smaller Ghostkeel is a full AUD$35 more at AUD$125. Insane.

Really not that difficult to just shop elsewhere either, rather than emailing GW in the vain hope they adjust their pricing, which is what many of us were getting at.

I keep seeing people like you in this community that always see an evident problem and instead of going "Yea, maybe we should at least point it out to GW or at the very minimum to other people who might not know about it..." you just go "Stop talking and just go elsewhere." We've seen in this thread that there are people unaware of their policies involving online sales and shopping carts, and they're shocked to hear about it, that alone is a step in the right direction.

How do you ever expect anything to ever change with that attitude? Hell, this isn't even an issue that's that complicated, it could literally be a typo on their part that they can fix easily.

I'll pluck you like a flower.
