So, while tinkering with the shiny new models, I came up with this guy:

Seemed like a good idea at the time...

I thought it might be fun to give him some (obviously unofficial) rules, so as a rough draft this is what I came up with:

EPIRIAN WARDEN - 5 points - Vanguard

Originally tasked with scrub clearing, exploration and search & rescue around newly-established Epirian settlements, the Warden's mobility and proficiency with the clingfire sprayer gave him an essential role on the battlefield providing reconaissance and suppression in conjunction with rapid-moving firefly or spider units.

MV7 EVS4 SKL3 AV3 MAS2 FOR2 WP3 Type: Infantry (Human, Solo, Mobile)

Unit size: 1 Warden

Equipment: Clingfire Sprayer, Choke Grenades & Maglock Guardian Pistol

Abilities: Scout, Dynamic Move

Special: Multi-unit Selection - Up to 2 separate Wardens may be taken as a single Vanguard selection.

Any thoughts? (Feel free to try him out and let me know how it goes!)

I like it

I have a full 5 man squad of contractors, which leaves me with a spare dude. So he's getting some wings!

That's brilliant. I love the weapon, but I LOVE the jet(?)pack.

• It should definitely have the 'Mobile' designator (as his role is clearly to stay on the move), which will also give it a much needed dodge.
• If you were going to make this into a unit that could take multiple models, then it would be fine to have this as a 'FOR1' model, but if you're keeping it as a single model unit, then it needs to have 'FOR 2', otherwise it will just get obliterated in a second...we can just assume that anyone selected for this role would be quite hardy.
• The 'Dominator' Pistol (in the fluff) uses bullets that have on micro-drone processors, as such they're pretty much reserved for Bot Handlers, so this guy should only have the basic 'Guardian' Maglock Pistol.
• Not that they'd be of much use for a model with a clingfire sprayer, fluff-wise this guy should probably have choke grenades (because for his original, non-combat role he probably would have had them).
• You didn't give it a unit type (I'd suggest 'Vanguard').
• If you're going to keep it as a single model unit, it should probably also have the 'solo' designator (just for consistency sake) and it should be a multi-unit selection (where you can take 2 of them in a detachment but it only counts as a single unit choice).

Finally, if you are keeping it with your rules as-is, it would probably not be worth more than 3 pts for that model. Firefly drones are 4 pts, and although they're only 'MAS1', they have a much more useful set of weapons and special rules as well.

If you make it into a 'FOR2' model and give it the 'Mobile' designator, then 5 points would be about right.

Awesome, thanks for that!

Edited the original post - Upped to FOR2 and added Mobile. Swapped Character for Solo (doesn't seem to be any point in him having both, since he doesn't have Command, and Solo removes the ability to join units...)

This is a great conversion! Well done.

It'd look even more fresh with one of the helmeted handler heads, makes sense with FOR 2 also; between a helmet and maybe some extra armour plates, he should look suitably tougher than a regular contractor.

Yeah, I've been thinking along similar lines... He got a regular contractor head because I already used all of my Handler heads, but when I can get my hands on some more Handler sprues I think I'll do a quick swap

Well since I loved the idea so much, and I had a spare dude left over, I decided to make a Warden myself...

I'm really happy with the pose. It's obviously still WIP as there's quite a lot of gap filling to do, the Clingfire sprayer needs drilling out and I want to give the helmet a visor, but it's basically there. I've had the pose idea in my head since insaniak first posted the conversion and I'm really glad it's turned out as well as I imagined it.

That looks fantastic! Love the dynamic posing you've achieved there. I may have to make a little squad of Wardens myself.

Yeah,
I love this,
Maybe the warden should be able to take upto 4 fireflies with him?
So he becomes a bot handler equivalent?
And give him the ability use the protocols.

Panic...
