I have my IA-V2 book now and I bought the Sicaran Battle Tank and will be adding it to my BA army, but a couple Question's........

I assume shooting at flyers is still a Snap shot on 6's but the flyers just cant Jinks for the save.

My really big question is are the Lascannons a must at 40 points or is just the base tank a better point deal, far more experienced players input here would be great.

Thanks

I always go for the Lascannons myself. They have great synergy with the Sicaran's main gun for light armor duty.

Lascannons. Always the Lascannons. They pretty much guarantee the Sicaran becomes a fantastic anti-armor unit. It's a heavy points investment. You should be able to find those points if you are playing at the appropriate points level for 30K (2,000+ points). In 40K... could be harder, and the Sicaran has a giant bullseye on it.

If you don't have the points for the Lascannons, try to get the Heavy Bolter sponsons on it. They are only 20 points, and contribute to the idea of "MOAH DAKKA!" And they give you some ablative armor for those "Weapon Destroyed" results- because the last thing you want destroyed on the Sicaran is the Accelerator Autocannon.

I kind of like the heavy bolters because the Sicarian already comes with a hull HB which is going to be useless if you use the tank as primarily an anti-armor platform. However, I magnetized my weapon sponsons so I can swap it out as I see fit.

I've got both of my Sicarans set up for heavy Bolters. They're cheaper and put out enough shots to punch out a lot of infantry.

The Accelerator Autocannon does enough heavy lifting on its own being what it is that I rarely need the lascannons anyway.

I really like the Lascannon sponsons on my Sicaran. However, I think that an even more important upgrade is the Battle of Sarosh Legacy of Glory. The Legacy gives you a very solid chance of dropping an enemy flyer as soon as it comes on the table. I usually take my Sicaran as sort of a Heldrake insurance when I'm playing a mostly RW army.

I run the Sicaran with Lascannon. I play Iron Hands so sometimes I take a tech priest and sit him behind repairing him all game with chapter tactics IWND it can become a pain in the a#$. Also schism of Mars gives you tank hunter really nasty anti armor vehicle.

Since the turret weapon ignores jink any skimmers or flyers obviously won't jink and can shoot normally next turn. Slap on those lascannons and they will have to jink!

Congrats. It's a great tank. I'd keep it cheap with heavy bolters.

If you REALLY want Heavy Bolters on one, just make sure you take two others and equip them with Lascannons to be transport killers.

Just used mine today, you need 2. One just becomes a huge point sink unless its bear bones. got blown up second turn . waste of 250pts

Run two of them. I dunno what the requirements are for Loyalists, but running a Malefic Sorc or a Warpsmith is WELL worth using two.

I use Lascannons because you can force Jinks. Fire the Lascannons first and then finish them with the Main guns.
