After taking a little break from the hobby I'm back to converting big time. I'm planning on starting up a project log soon but I want to keep it specifically to my Artscale Space Marines and while this project would compliment that I feel it deserves a separate thread.

I was asked to do this commission about a month ago. The basis for the commission was to reproduce a brilliant conversion by Mike Lopez. Full credit goes to him for providing the inspiration for these conversions. You can check out his original on his blog: http://tinywarriors.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/dreadknight-final-pics.html and at GravenGames.co.uk: http://gravengames.co.uk/nemesis-dreadknight-conversion

Here’s the finished commission. Three converted Grey Knight Nemesis Dreadknights.

Overall, I’m super happy with how these turned out and if I didn’t have a lot of other personal projects on the go right now I’d consider making a couple more for my own collection. It’s great going into a project with question marks about the design and coming out the other end with something you hadn’t envisioned at the start of the project.

I have a more detailedl blog post on the process of making them for anyone interested in trying for themselves. If nothing else it's a huge improvement over the traditional baby carrier design.

These are amazing! If you started making conversion kits I'd buy three.

I honestly wouldn't mind Dreadknights that look like that crashing into my lines. I might even move up a little to try and get the assault going faster so I could get a closer look.

Those are AWESOME! love the clean lines on those sculpted helmeats/heads. Your posing makes them look much more dynamic.

Honestly it took me a second to realize they we dreadnights, not a terminator squad. Great Work!

Any chance you do some tutorials for GS?

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

I'm loving these...how much would one cost? Or are there going to be conversion kits?

Beautiful work - and I'm sure it took a lot of skill! Only criticism - they look less like giant robots and more like man-sized warriors in very large scale.

Wow, definetly amazing!

Any chance we can get a side-by-side picture with some Terminators, just to really blow our minds?

Thanks, glad you like them. They were really fun to work on.
Kingzerno wrote:I'm loving these...how much would one cost? Or are there going to be conversion kits?

At the moment I'm doing these as conversion commissions, £125 each plus the cost of the kit itself. However, a kit could be feasible, I'll have to give that some thought.
spincr wrote:Any chance you do some tutorials for GS?

I do talk about using GS a lot on my blog, but I'm going to put together a solid stand alone tutorial soon for how I use it and basic tools and techniques.

Yeah, I definitely get where you're coming from. I'm thinking improved feet (maybe just use the standard 3 toed feet) and perhaps a smaller head would be an improvement. After all Dreads and comtemptors have tiny heads in comparison to their bodies.

Thanks. Sadly these have already been shipped off to the client, so no comparison pics I'm afraid.

Actually, smaller heads would be cool. maybe instead of the head you have, why not place a normal terminator head (and possible shoulders peaking through) so that it looks like a normal terminator is in the chest of the chasis (but not baby carried)?

Yeah, but I think it works with a Dreadknight. A Smaller head may look cool too, but Dreadknights more so than other walkers and mechs are supposed to mimic human proportions - just scaled up. They're meant to go toe-to-toe in combat with daemonprinces and other man-shaped monstrosities, so it makes sense that they'd be more humanlike than clunkier or more oddly shaped vehicles (dreads, riptides) that are meant for crushing infantry or just housing artillery.

Hahaha.

Thanks. I'm pretty convinced now that a slightly smaller head, about three quarters size would look best.
