Hi,

After sorting out the rules (at least in my head) I've been enthused to get the poly cement out and build some stuff.

I was just working through the Epirian Contractors first.

The rules say they have Maglock Assault Rifle & Maglock Guardian Pistol.
Is this each?
Do all the models count as having both weapons?
All the pics (including the building guide) I've found have the leader with the pistol and the rest with assault rifles?
How much do I have to do for WYSIWYG? Do I have to model both weapons on all the models?

I'd hate to make mistakes and turn these awesome plastic sprues into bin fodder.

Thanks.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

The rules require that optional gear be modelled appropriately, but standard gear has a little more leeway. There's no need to put both standard weapons on all of your models.

Great - that's what I was hoping.
Thanks for the swift reply.

I'm ensuring those with the grenade launchers are built with the correct weapon - the rest will be close to the build guide.

I'll maybe experiment more with my 2nd box set :-)

I'm in the process of putting together a unit of 4 Epirian Firefly drones. Boy those things are fiddly for an old guy with sausage fingers.

Anyway, I just wondered what people have done to one of the models to make it stand out as squad leader? Different paint job or something different on the model?
I was thinking of using the part labelled as 'X' on the top facing forward.

Anyone got any examples of what they did?

If you look in Panic's thread:

He used a colour stripe on the drones to distinguish squads so I am sure you can take it a little further to distinguish drone leaders within squads too. I will be doing something similar with mine, I think.

I use magnetic 'rocks' that stick to my bases, so I can move it around:

I like the Antenna idea for the Fireflies though.

What I did, was give all firefly drones an antenna (part x), but squad leader was given a second antenna. For the spider drones, I only gave the squad leader an antenna, as normally the bot handler will be leading.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Thanks for the info.

Although some of the models are rather fiddly for an old sausage finger like myself - I've built up a selection of the models (not done a hunter yet)

I actually found the basic troopers on each side the hardest to do. I'm not sure the poses are natural enough. At least I have 2 boxes so plenty of spares.

My biggest problem... How to glue the mature Angel to a base?
It only has 4 very tiny points of contact.

Have people textured and painted the base then superglued it on - or used poly cement to melt it to the bare base prior to any basing work?

I just used regular polystyrene cement and glued it onto the base. Although the points of contact are small, the poly cement is more than strong enough to cope.

I bored very tiny holes into the base with the point of a knife at each contact point so that the feet had more surface area to grip on. Liquid poly was fine for sticking it to the base and it's firmly in place.

Superglue on to a textured base did not work for me but poly on a bare base works fine.

Thanks.
Just tried that out. It seems to have set pretty well considering the minuscule contact point.

I used cork on my base and created a slight recess for the void gel tips to sit in. Superglue held them sufficiently afterwards. Looks more realistic on mine because it looks like the Angel is gripping on to the ground to brace itself
