Haha. Best part in the trailer! But since the trailer came out one or two days ago, how long did it take you to make this beauty?

I didn't notice who posted this when I clicked on it, but was interested because of the title. Had I noticed it was you guys, I might not have been quite so shocked but how amazing that is! And in that short timeframe! DAYUM!

Thought it might just be a take on it, but it really has everything from the trailer, even Mr Angelos. Although I only watched it twice, shouldn't the base be a little more "icey"?

Ugh. Yet another piece where you guys do 90% good work and then ruin it with terrible "OSL". Please, please take some time to learn how OSL works and how to do it right. It would be a huge step up in the quality of your finished products.

When I saw the duel in trailer, I immediately thought that I want to see that done with miniatures. I didn't expect it to happen in two days though...

How is the osl wrong here, out of curiosity?

The OSL might not be perfect, but it's still a really good work, even more for just two days of work

From my untrained eye? On the left leg of the WK it looks like the OSL is coming from a light source just off the top left of the thigh rather than the more distant explosion to the right. The orange paint is way too intense and isolated. And on the WK's blade it looks like there are two different light sources while the explosion doesn't really show "bright spots" away from the explosion's source that would create that effect. So, logically, the OSL would look like it would be coming from the same source.

Look at the top fin thing on the back of the wraithknight in the first picture. See how it's just a big blob of red/orange with hard edges? Real light shouldn't be so intense that it completely overwhelms the base color of the surface, and if it somehow was that bright it certainly wouldn't be just one blob with immediately adjacent areas completely dark. Light intense enough to overwhelm the base color would be bright and obvious on that whole side of the wraithknight: all the way out to the tip of the fin, the back ends of the guns, etc. Just look at some real light sources illuminating nearby surfaces and you see something very different.

The reason it looks like it does is that it's a textbook example of the "look at me I have an airbrush" style of painting used by a lot of commission painters. You have to have OSL because "pro painted" models always have OSL, but you really don't want to do OSL. It takes a lot of effort and artistic skill to do OSL right, something that is not compatible with getting the commission finished and moving on to the next paying customer. So you just spray a blob of the light color on some nearby surfaces and hope that the customer is sufficiently impressed by the soft edge fading an airbrush does by default (something you can't really do with a "normal" brush). If you're really feeling adventurous or the customer is paying for the higher tier of quality you might even spray a blob of a lighter shade in the middle of the first blob. But you're certainly not going to spend a ton of time carefully layering the subtle shades and highlights of proper OSL.

That's why I said "90% there, but ruined by terrible OSL". And the rest of the work isn't all that impressive, honestly. It's a competently executed example of the "look at me I have an airbrush" style and looks ok from a distance, but it's pretty obviously a rush job that doesn't hold up very well under closer inspection. And stuff like the the obvious seam on the tip of the battle cannon and the un-drilled heavy stubber barrel just shouldn't happen on professional work.

For a 2 day work, I think its mighty impressive. From the conversion to the painting and the timeframe that all of these was achieved. Sure its not perfect, but you give way less credit than what the artist who did this deserve. Still, I guess your critique would be decent if you didn't complain so much.
