Were considering starting either a Dark angels legion or Thousand sons, but wanted to know from a fluff perspective what kind of armour mark they use. Does anyone know

The upgrade parts that FW sells they match with the MkIV suits, but the splash pages for both Legions have them in MkII. Both had their own Forge Worlds, so should have any equipment you might think of (especially the First).

Both would have relativley low numbers of MK IV (both being 'loyalist' heresy wise meant they were on the bottom of the gift list from horus, as well as the fact that DA and TS were so far out of the loop location wise) I'd say lots of MK II and III with MK IV sprinkled in. the problem with recent upgrade kits is that they are all pretty MK IV leaning because of the Calth set (point in case, the death guard power scythe kit is MK IV, yet the legion is said in the fluff to use mostly MK III)

With the 1k sons for sure they would be majority mk3 and 2, before the heresy even started in earnest the wolves attacked Prospero and the 1k sons were transported by Magnus to the planet or sorcerors. At least I believe that's the case, please anyone correct me if I'm wrong but 1k sons didn't even really participate in the assault of Terra, or any of the other traitorous actions did they? *besides you know, forsaking the emperor and setting up shop in the Eye of Terror*

The enemies of Mankind may employ dark sciences or alien weapons beyond Humanity's ken, but such deviance comes to naught in the face of honest human intolerance back by a sufficient number of guns. |

Nope TRUE Thousand Sons are basically loyalist (barring hatred of the wolves and some pissed off feelings towards the emperor, but not full on hate), the Thousand sons we see at Terra and now-a-days are Ahriminian Exiles, unless they've changed up the fluff.

Thousand Son's iconic look is actually MkIV just as Death Guard's is MkIII:

Thousand Son's may have been 'loyal' as far as Horus was concerned but the adoption of MkIV was already underway before Horus was turned, also they had their own affiliated Forge World and being a smaller legion would have required much less resources to re-equip.

Judging from the legs, the EC and WE are wearing MK6 in that picture. Curious.

The EC was Mk6, the WE is Mk5, it dates to the era when Mk5 didn't have kneepads:

The various books and short stories are progressively hinting at Magnus involving himself much more than before in the heresy and twisting fate around. Good thing IMO.
As for armor marks, there's two side: technically Mk2 and 3 would be the most numerous. But the Sons have their own private Forge World: Arkhadine. Which conveniently explains why, in the art, they are regularly depicted in modified Mk4.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.
8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.
Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

Excuse Me, If there are power Scythes for Death Guard I Require this Knowledge. Because I haven't seen anything like that besides anvil Industry and they really don't seem big enough to me...
But to Add to the Topic, MKII I think just works for everyone at making them really look like 30k not slightly modified 40k. But a few Legions, Thousand Sons, Raven Guard, etc just look "right" in newer Mk's of Armour accordingly. while Iron Hands for example look "right" with Mk III.
Just my 2 cents.
