My fluffsplanation is that on the desert-hive world they are fighting on, they are wearing protective covers over their foot armour to keep out the monomolecular dust.

They do help with the scale. It’s just a departure from the norm, so a bit of a surprise to see sensible footwear on the Emperor’s Finest.

The fact that they are the only leather/natural color on the marines makes it a bit jarring. I feel that if you added pouches, bedrolls, or other kit normally found on real troops, it would help tie them in better. Right now as the only non-armor thing visible, they stand out a little much.

My first thought on seeing them was “scouts?” as they tend to be the marines found with more realistic levels of gear on them.

The Emperors boots!

Nice painting, i reckon you could have get away with painting the boots like armour, espechily sanded down a bit. They do come accross as a bit jary but the more i look at them, the more i like them! nice work man!

Sure am Don't know if I want to put my IG in here too, I've kind of lost interest in them. I am toying with starting a brand new plog with my Tyranids and Rogue Trader-era Orks too
