Very nice work as always! I really like the paint jobs on those Battle Master miniatures in particular, you work your best magic on those older figures. The newer stuff looks great though, nice to see some variety!

Thankyou. Next I'm painting dark eldar kalabites and a newish space marine squad I found at the charity shop. I don't know what chapter to do them, but they are vanilla marines on the box and I do have a pot of ultramarine blue. Any requests?

Tasty mech', Weety. Good job.

Nice nid's too.

As for chapter, I have no particular favourite. Although I do enjoy the half or quartered schemes.

As always, excellent work, weets. How did you get the blue so bright on the Admech guys?

Dr H, I was thinking of doing nova-warriors actually, which is a quarter scheme.

Valhalla The blue is vallejo sky blue. To get it that bright is all about layers. I first painted it pure white, then sky blue, then a blue wash followed by several more layers of sky blue with some white added for the highlight layers. It helps that the rest of the model is contrasting dull greys and dirty reds.

I've been distracted from the dark eldar and marines by these groovy old chaos thugs I rescued. Also found some really rare 1980s transfers for the shields, they were all stuck together but I saved a few.

This guy is a cyclops. There are lots of fun mutations in this crew. I painted his shield with a big spiky eye. Took loads of photos and this was the least out of focus:

Also painted this ones shield as its a funny shape:

This guy wins the prize for looking mental:

Dude who looks like Conan:

A punk rocker

Unlike the others this guy is a satyr and has a genie outfit... used one of the old transfers on his shield:

Skeletor lookalike, this guy is the unit champion I reckon. Another cool 80s transfer:

I'm painting my marines ultramarine today because I have the right type of transfers... Anyone any advice on getting the stupid shoulder transfers to lie smooth?

Nice work on all the mutant-like dudes.

For transfers you want a gloss surface, micro-set, transfer, micro-sol (multiple applications until conformed to the surface), varnish, matt varnish.

Good start. Very vibrant blue.

If you don't varnish over them now, you can micro-sol them later to get the same benefits.

Winterdyne did a good step-by-step on the use of those solutions here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/333331.page#2221241

The Dr is correct, you'll get brilliant results is you use micro-set and micro-solutions.

Hello again. They must love me at work as they keep putting me on the rota and I have had hardly anytime to paint. But I managed to squeeze some painting into evenings and produced a colour scheme for my dark eldar:

The armour is a very complicated colour. I made a metallic green with a mix of metallic medium, yellow and green ink. After several coats of that I glazed it with watered down turquoise ink. After that was dry a coat of sepia wash. Then highlights with more of the metallic green. Finally a coat of armour wash
