Nice!
Thanks for the info!
I have the old metals, and the plastic miniatures are much improved.

I sold off a pretty extensive collection of the metals a few years back.
The pictures of what I sold off are still in my photobucket account: http://s247.photobucket.com/user/CptJake_Minis/library/OGRE%20Minis?sort=3&page=1

This is why I shouldn't check the N&R section of Dakka on my lunch break.
You guys are such enablers!
Still a cool concept, and from the sound of things, if it explodes crazy enough we could see some of the newer units showing up in plastic as well.

I doubt the OGRE line team takes up too many resources from Car Wars. And honestly, both are a distraction from their real money maker, the Munchkin lines.

Considering that each pack includes a mk.III *and* mk.V the pricing is very reasonable. The problem is that I don't need more Ogre minis.
I backed the Ogre KS back in 2012, primarily to get the large GEV / Shockwave maps for my Ogre Miniatures. Had plastics been an option, especially a "paper or plastic" option, I'd have likely spent quite a lot of money on building up Ogre Reinforcement Pack levels of stuff.
As it is, I ended up buying loads of Ogre Minis on eBay and via their website sales in 2013:
. And that's not even all of it.
Wait and see, for me.

Same here -- I'm waiting for Miniatures 2!
Funding reached!
From the update: "Ogre Sixth Edition was scheduled for release in January, but looks like it will be shipping sooner than we thought, and should arrive before the holidays in December. Ogre Reinforcements is shipping next spring, and should be arriving before summer. If you back this project and add-on either of these items, be aware that you will be receiving these games when your Ogre Miniatures Set 1 ships in July 2017. So if you want to get them sooner, you may want to get them at your friendly local game store."

We've crossed our first Stretch Goal in around 24 hours! This is an amazing feat, and we're very proud of the project's momentum, and all of your support.
Now the fun part! Each copy of Ogre Miniatures Set 1 will now include a printed version of Ogre Miniatures Lite. This is a ruleset that allows you to use your Ogre Miniatures on the tabletop without a board. You'll have to provide dice and a tape measurer, but otherwise it's a complete game. This document will be similar to the free PDF found on Warehouse 23, but will have a few updates that Steve is working on. So the document included in this Kickstarter campaign will be unique in that regard.

Busted through several Goals with a new Pledge level for those wanting more miniatures:
Update for OGRE Veteran Pledge Level:
We've had requests for an easier "gimme lots!" reward level, and after crunching numbers and reviewing all of our options we have opened up a new reward level for U.S. supporters. Why are we only offering this to backers in the United States? Because the rewards offered through this level are being shipped in three batches.
Ogre Veteran - Two sets of Ogre Miniatures Set 1, one set of the reverse color set, one copy each of Ogre Sixth Edition and Ogre Reinforcements, and one set of retailer posters. Shipment in three waves so that you can get Ogre Sixth Edition and Ogre Reinforcements on release and not wait until summer 2017. $150
That's $170 worth of Ogre for $150, making this a great deal for anyone who is looking to build up an instant Ogre collection as we release Ogre Sixth Edition, Ogre Reinforcements, and the miniatures created through this Kickstarter project.
Thanks for your continued support, and please share the project with your friends. We're very close to that next stretch goal, and next week we'll reveal a few more of the stretch goals since we're racing through each of the goals so very quickly.
- Phil Reed

I got the deluxe edition during that KS, but it proved too much when I was moving,so I gave it away to a buddy who runs a gaming club for students at the school he teaches at.
That new $150 pledge level looks darned good to me right now, the basic OGRE game, and enough minis to play it without counters.
I've made the switch...

It depends on how much the retailer marks it up.
Personally, I really hate these retailer pledges when they basically do nothing to increase the pledge amounts, but everything to show the backers how much they're overpaying compared to wholesale.

Am I misunderstanding this pledge level? It looks like you get $90 worth of minis (3 x $30 pledge) and then are paying $60 for a rulebook?

The $150 pledge is the $50 game (counters!), the $20 adder, and $90 worth of minis. It's pretty crap if you already have the big map.
Now, if they did a $100 pledge with 3 sets of minis, and just the map, that'd be the one to sell like hotcakes.

I'm surprised they don't have bigger pledge packages with more minis. That's what I'm in for, and that's what this KS is supposedly about. Oh, well, I'm pledged for $60 with the intention to buy two sets already, maybe I'll bump it up to $90 for three. I'll end up with more actual Ogres than I really need, but I don't trust SJG to keep the miniatures in production so I'm going to strike while the iron is hot.

Yeah, it should be $30 for the first, +$25 each additional. Something like that. Right now, at $30 KS vs. $35 MSRP, one might as well buy retail.

SJG has a history of putting retailers first, so I'm not surprised. I imagine that hardcore OGRE supporters (as in "we want this product made") are backing, while casual ones (looking for a good deal) will buy retail. : http://www.sjgames.com/general/faq.html
SJG may be using KS more as a marketing tool, or to gauge interest in the product. Unlike Ogre Designer Edition, SJG might have released this product to retail without a KS ("We have already paid for the CAD files and the tooling"), although I'm sure plastic injection models are on the costly side compared to other SJG retail products. (Munchkin, btw, has a ROI of *two weeks*. If SJG wanted to just make money, they'd only release Munchkin expansions.) If you read an article for their GURPS Fantasy KS, you know that these SJG KS projects were designed *years* ago, and that they're using KS to help them prioritize what games to produce. Also note that, as SG's are reached, the retail packaging changes to include more miniatures, but at a higher retail price. That suggests, to me, that SJG is using KS to get a better idea of how much demand there is for the game to create the right retail product.

Yeah, SJG is definitely using KS as a marketing tool, which is fine. That's what KS is good for. Particularly when high investment cost tooling is involved. I would not be surprised to find Ogre 7E release fairly quickly, once the economics of plastic minis become obvious to SJG.
But the retailer thing is a constant annoyance. FFS, hide it behind the curtain, like retail is supposed to!

I know I used the old Battletech infantry to make OGRE infantry bases, and at least one of the larger tanks as a superheavy. Demolisher? Big tank with the 2xAC20 turret IIRC. It’s been a while.
Lower left in this pic next to the OGRE equivalent.
I don’t have any pics of OGRE stuff sitting next to any mechs. I’ve got pics of both in one of my galleries here on Dakka. They are posed on the same little hill, so you might be able to get some sense of scale. I could dig around and get them out if needed.
