Anybody else feel a bit down by Index Chaotica: Apocrypha? Especially compared to the space marine Apocrypha? I knew I was buying a compilation of retro material, but I feel that the book was really missing photo's of old 28mm chaos mini's (really only a page and another photo elsewhere of a noise marine, no tanks or dreadnoughts etc) and was pretty overdone on the Epic side of things. Vintage Stat lines and rules were also overdone imo.

Hmm, I have both Chaotica and Imperialis ordered, but haven't seen either yet.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from them. Probably should have had a look through the Space Marine one first.

I'm not too concerned about the lack of old model photos, I always thought that the converted armies showing up occasionally in white dwarf were much more interesting that the 'Eavy Metal pics.

I'm not sure I'm keen on all the old rules and stats though...

I guess I was hoping that they would be mostly full of artwork and fluff. For modelling insperation more than anything else.

Is it very rules heavy?

There is plenty of fluff and artwork in there. But there are a lot of old rules too. (It seems).

It just feels like they missed a massive trick there. I mean something like a rogue trader era battle report with pics from white dwarf 1993 or something would have been so cool.

I know I can easily track all this stuff down in the age of the internet. But having a 'highlights compilation' really appeals, but I feel like this one isn't as good as it could have been

Maybe I'm just being a glass half full person? /:

Its pretty much a hodge podge of RoC rules and Epic 40k rules for Chaos units.

Since i allready have RoC I & II, i'm glad i din't buy this, because the cover art is misleading, would have loved to have all of the 1St till end 3Rd, beginning 4th Ed Chaos illustration.

As someone who missed all the old beardy stuff (as I followed along in 4th and 5th from the outside but didn't start playing until 6th), I really liked the collection of fluff and bits and pieces from years past. I can't believe how much some things have changed while some others have remained completely unchanged. I certainly wouldn't say it's fantastic value, especially not for the neckbeards who already have 90% of all this stuff hanging around in its original form, but I'm happy with the contents for what I paid.

I've got it and the Imperial one on order. didn't know they included rules, I'd thought they'd edit the articles to be timeless fluff.

But I suppose that would have required, y'know, work and stuff.

Still looking forward to them.
