On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

We're finally at the finishing line for 2016 and I think I speak for quite a few of us when I say that "good riddance" is in order. Sure, there were some bright spots, i.e. Cubs win World Series , record stock market levels , etc. but here on December 31st it's time to look forward, be as optimistic as possible and engage in that time honored tradition of making a New Year's resolution for 2017.

So here goes. My resolution for 2017 is to take my wife on regular weekend mini-vacations around the country. The lad's old enough to fend for himself now and my wife is a PT who spends an unbelievable amount of time at the hospital where she's on staff and deserves something special to look forward to after a 60 hour week.

Happy new year.

My resolution is to finally finish my house renovations. I'm tired of living in something that resembles a building site.

What a gakky year it was. I sadly am not very hopeful that 2017 is going to be much better. Let's try to be positive anyway.

My resolution is to continue to lose weight until I get down to a healthy level.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Time. Time is an artificial construct. An idea based on the theory that events occur in a linear direction, at all times. Always forward, never back. Is the concept of time correct? Is time relevant?
~ Sheogorath

My resolution is to get better shape.

I find myself wondering tonight as I listen to my lil girls hamster running on it's wheel. What is the deal with hamsters and their exercise wheel. Do they enjoy exercising? do they know it's healthy for them? are they planning their escape? are they just bored and that's the only entertainment allowed to them? Is it some sort of metaphor for our lives, keep running where getting somewhere? Maybe if we could understand the hamster, everyone would actually be healthier and wiser.

so my resolution is to be the hamster, keep running even though the scenery never changes

I am realistic. I resolve to eat a cookie in 2017. I expect this resolution will be accomplished shortly.

Edit: resolution accomplished.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Ok, I resolve to have a 1,500 pt Ultramarine force, fully upgraded with FW doors, upgrade shoulder pads and such, painted to my highest standard by the end of the year. I also resolve to improve my painting skills to the point where I can charge more for commision work.

Beyond the hobby resolutions

1) Find a better paying job in my field, and then actually get the job.
2) Actually care this time when retaking a few expired classes
3) Lose... 15 pounds. I like to think small. I lost a good chunk over the summer, but the lazy fall has set me back.
4) Buy a new gun (which means save money first)

I think my new years resolution should be:-

(a) Buy somewhere with no strategic relevance but accessible quickly
(b) Build a nuclear bunker
(c) Outfit said bunker with supplies
(d) Wait for WWIII to start
(e) In the mean time fight Brexit with every fibre of my being!

"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. " - V

1 Loose some weight. This should be easy, as I’m on track to drop about 140lbs. by the end of the month. Unfortunately they are the cute blonde pounds I’ve had for the last 17 years.
2 Get a place of my own, as The Wife is going to get the house.
3 Get a job, so I can afford said place.
4 Maintain sanity.
5 Try to be happy.

2016 can go die in a fire. 2017: nowhere to go but up!

My resolution will be to make sure Verv does this.

Plus to get more games in and to finish the distraction armies I'm working on until 8th.

It's cynical, it's pessimistic, but I'd be lying if I didn't say my New Year's resolution is to be more apathetic in the face of gak life throws at us.

Kinda tired of people complaining about 2016. Yeah maybe globally it sucked for you. But do you know what. How did it effect you personally?

I'd say personally i'm pretty much the same old. I still have some decent friends, connected back up with a few and lost out on a relationship i'd have preferred working out. It's not all bad though. In 2006 that was one of the crappier years i've had my whole life since my mom died of cancer that year and my dad kicked me out of the house right after. It wasn't easy. 2016 was nowhere near that bad personally for me. It's not even close. So some movie stars died and the world swung right more politically. Boo hoo it'll swing right back. In the USA it's gotten pretty normal in recent memory for most candidates to get 2 terms and it's generally 2 terms democrat and then 1-2 republican. I will admit it's been weird though.

Now i know nobody works out with resolutions but considering my life tends to go nowhere i would like to maybe take a class or two, get more fit, make something of my life and perhaps get a girlfriend that i like which also likes me. During Christmas i also thought about doing some Twitch streams with some of my games and adding some humorous dialogue. Either way my life needs a change. As pathetic as it sounds i'm having a sort of quarter life crisis (i think my family member peers got that when looking at sports athletes and seeing how they were so young) and feel that i haven't measured up to the potential that i have. I could do better, be more productive and fulfill my dreams and happiness even if it's on a small scale. If i can cut out a halfway decent life for myself i will consider that a decent success.
