Et In Arcadia Ego

Canterbury

In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

.. ...could be -- very -- hit or miss, but worth a go I reckon.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

This has DUMB written all over it. Ironically the trailer seems to have better super hero action in it than Arrow or Legends.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

For a season at least.

This will be the first cancellation of the new crop. Doesn't mean it won't be fun, but can you see this getting picked up?

...Can't deny I got a bit of a geek thrill at seeing Starro the Conqueror though.

It looks funny, but I'm not sure the staying power of that. Will check it out though.

That got a few giggles from me. The invisible jet one was pretty good.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

That was the worst bit of television I've seen in a decade, perhaps in my entire life. Every character was in some way atrocious, every performance inconsistent or flat, every attempt at a joke either falling flat or entirely lacking a punchline.

Just the horrible intro monologue alone made me want to switch it off, and by halfway through I was literally begging for death, or at least sight- and hearing-crippling mutilation.

It is literally not possible using the English language to overstate how awful this was.

So aye, my duty done(I always force myself to watch at least the first episode in-full before judging a show), this atrocity will never grace my eyeballs again short of it being used against me by the security services as a method of torture.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

"Some superheroes have to be watched. Some have to be controlled. And some of them – sometimes – need to be taken out of the picture. That’s when you call in The Boys"

Sorry sir they are too sweary and murdery, (and worse), how about a bunch of precision engineered Nerd Tropes pulling a brightly coloured Gotham's Creek kind of angle ?

I really wanted to like this, but just can't. Luckily it was just a half hour. Good premise that could have been a great show, a shame really. :(
