It comes with a bigger cost than the disc, and grants some extra speed and survivability to the herald. I guess I could only see this being used in really big games where I need to get across the board fast.

No but I'd love to put a Nurgle Herald on a Plague Drone. Why the heck isn't that possible?

The disk is actually faster I think due to being a jetbike and being able to turbo-boost. There really is no reason to ever get the chariot.

And the Chariot cannot hide joined in a unit, like a Disc Herald can, so there goes the "survivability" argument.

Wow it really is more worthless than I could have ever dreamed. Glad I made this thread so I don't waste time assembling this thing and painting it.

Make flamers on chariots for when you can summon them via Magnus or LOCs, etc.
|
Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.
I have a problem.
Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Assemble it as an exalted flamer chariot. Then it is available as a summoning option in the new change table.

The Burning Chariot option has a special place in my heart. It's the little daemon who could, constantly punching well above its weight class, tanking inordinate amounts of fire and just flat out removing squads at times. It's basically an AV10 heldrake for almost half price that's not at the whim of the reserve dice gods. I honestly believe that they have a place in a list and not just as summon fodder.
Free is better than 100 points though, there's no argument there.

I've been summoning the chariots for a while. I just had an extra boxset and was thinking of using the herald on chariot. Now I realize it is ultra-pointless.

You are talking about the Exalted Flamer chariot (properly the Burning Chariot) but the OP was talking about taking a Herald on a Chariot instead of a Disc.
Even though the Herald on chariot is crap and you never want to spend point on the Flamer chariot, the Chariot kit is one of the best kit GW makes.
Every Daemon player, especially Tz players, should pick up at least 1.
With it you can build the following all at once:
Burning Chariot w/ E-Flamer
Herald on Disc
3 Blue Horrors
And the repack gives you all the bases you need for this too.

Doesn't the Chariot give the Herald a Locus bubble or something? Rather than having to be Locusing just the unit he's joined to?

I don't see a Disc on the frames. I'd already looked, as I'm considering getting three Start Collecting sets and using the parts to build Heralds on Discs, Exalted Flamers on... foot?, and putting the Blue Horrors & Screamers on bases. Then getting even more Screamers and not even bothering with the Chariots to fill out the Skyhost. I'd rather have my EFs in a Burning Host getting +1S on shooting and be able to hide in a unit.

Only the Khorne Blood Throne does the. The Slaanesh Seeker Chariots and Tzeentch Burning Chariot do not.

The chariot disk is the disk, just put on flyer stand.

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

I'm well aware, that's why I specified the Burning Chariot. The few previous posts to mine were about the merits of the Burning chariot as a summon, I mentioned that I'm happy to pay points and HS slots for mine and they rarely disappoint me.

The Exalted Flamer (or herald) stands on the disk as part of the chariot which is why you're basically making a choice of herald on disk and exalted flamer on foot (effectively binning the chariot part of the kit) OR[u] Herald on foot and exalted flamer on chariot. As for prefering your Exalted's on foot to get +1 str, that's nice, but they're heavy weapons with 18-20" max range and he doesn't have relentless. Good for holding ground, not great at offensive strikes while a burning chariot can move 12", torrent 12" and basically put an AP3 flamer template touching the enemy deployment line turn 1 which can be a rude surprise to many people who aren't familiar with a BC.

This. The only reason to use Tzeentch chariots is for summoning. It's a pretty good model for that sort of thing, get a couple on the board and they can block LOS to other units.

Agreed. Now that Horrors can only use change, and if you play Horrors there will be plenty of units split, I would highly recommend that any Daemon player who intends to use Horrors needs to own a Burning chariot.
I recently got one and assembled it as 1 disc Herald and the E-flamer is not glued to the chariot. he is glued to the smaller disc and can be place into the outer ring without any magnetization.
The trick is to not cut off the "X" bit of sprue that is inside the outer ring. You use the center of the 'X' to glue onto the middle flame piece. Now I can just set the E-flamer into it, or a Herald if I ever wanted to.....which I wouldn't.
I'm almost doen painting them, I'll post pics when I'm done.
