Ahh, I had heard about the Dreadball incident at the time, and it always struck me as odd that people thought the endorsement (which was so blatantly paid for) was worth while.

There are the Web Series Bite Me, and Zombie Go Boom. They would have likely pimped zombicide to all their Yourtube subscribers for a figure based on one of them.

I'm kind of hoping we won't. These kind of mega-campaigns are squeezing the life out of smaller companies' efforts, like the juggernaut of legend, crushing the unworthy under wheels of iron. On the long run, I wonder what this does to traditional hobby and boardgame stores (and online retailers), when a significant fraction of the core audience for a game like Zombicide has already bought into it months before it ever hits the shelves. Indeed, I remember reading that Kingdom Death might never be offered through those channels at all.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Why? Not sarcastic, I've always been a bit mystified by the seemingly endless popularity of PA (I only very occasionally read the comic), did something off happen given their previous endorsed tie-ins?

Well they had a tie in figure for Mantics Dreadball (and were presumably meant to give a plug in return)

but only provided an 'oops' we forgot about it coz we were busy excuse much later (after the KS had finished? if memoery serves)

You don't just pay PA to mention you in a twitter post. PA isn't run like that. That and they're not doing advertising at the moment.

Anyway, today we celebrated the KS by playing Zombicide! We played the mission where you have to get 6 objectives and get out from one of the spawn points before being overrun. We lost one of the survivors along the way. Man cars are a fun way of mowing down Zombies!!!

It'll be nice to go from 9 playable survivors to 44!

Yeah, I do think Zombicide would have been a HUGE retail hit, but I'm not sure how much wind the kickstarters take out of their sales that way. My friend is of the opinion that with board games like this, game stores get the "1 a month" purchases, but not the initial "50 at once" purchases at launch. It's definitely less lucrative for stores from what I have seen so far...

However, I've seen the opposite with Dreamforge's stuff- since it's not a self-contained board game, the ones that got brought in to my local store were sold instantly (heck I even bought another heavy weapons box ). I'm thinking this is the difference between a self-contained board game, and something people need more of after the initial purchase.

I'm not sure if there's any way for a game like Zombicide to bridge that divide, although things like the box of dogz add-ons are a Really good idea in that regard. I may even get the box of dogz at retail, and I don't have the game... just because

The word "juggernaut" was on my mind, and historically, it used to refer to a sacred cart of sorts, which it was said trampled worshippers to death in some Hindu rituals (probably a colonialist myth of native savagery during the Empire).

I do think you're right regarding Zombicide being a retail hit, though. Zombies are big in the zeitgeist, and board games spread very well through contact, i.e. players of one at events or with friends go out and buy their own sets. And people who didn't splurge for all the KS extras will probably get those expansions via more traditional channels later on.

As I mentioned, we played on the weekend and using two characters each (there were three of us), we were using 6 of the 9 currently available. That's not a huge amount of options.

Having 44 different survivors rather than 9 is a pretty good idea.

Man, I'm so bummed I didn't get in on this, but I've been unemployed for just a bit too long. The cost on the Zombicide Season 2 kickstarter just went through the roof with all the exclusive add-ons. I did get in on the Reaper kickstarter though, and just received my figs. Definitely don't regret that.

Everytime I see someone who already got their Bones, I add a name to the list...

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I think Chris just replied so he could tell everyone (again) that he got his Reaper stuff.

Is there news of when the survey is supposed to hit? I'm just curious since I haven't gotten a Kickstarter email on it yet.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It takes weeks.
Amazon collects the money.
Allows a week or so to straighten out credit card issues.
Amazon passes information to kickstarter.
Kickstarter sends out surveys to us to confirm our address, email, etc..
After a week or so, Kickstarter sends info to CMON.
CMON sorts through data and builds pledge manager.
CMON emails us and we can access the new pledge manager.

Wow, just wow... the original Zombicide Abomination set (With all the add-on characters, and the stretch goal freebie models.) has been selling for over $1,200 on eBay.

I understand the compulsive collector mentality all too well, but even to me $1,200 is just absolutely ridiculous...

FETH MY LIFE.

This is why gambling rarely pays off. I took a gamble and went for Sedition Wars over zombicide. Seeing this makes me die a little inside....... I'm sitting here looking at about $4000 I might have made!

I sold mine without the 4 exclusive figures that you had to pay extra for, and I got $550 for it.

If I had known it would go as high as $1200 - well, they would've gone too!

In fact, they will be getting eBayed off separately when I get them in...

Yeah, I think mine is going to go up tonight. I can always replace the base game. And other than Sheldon, I really couldn't care less about the other models.

Project Update #40: Surveys not out yet, we'll update when they are sent

Posted by CoolMiniOrNot

We're confirming which long leadtime items we'll need to have on the survey - we haven't sent out the survey yet and will update again once it's out. Everyone asking on the comments and personal message, relax, you'll know when it goes out.

About 4 weeks after the surveys are sent, we'll update again about email links you'll be receiving to confirm everything and make any additional payments through our pledge manager. Again, no need to ask if they were sent, we'll update here when they are.

The KS survey email just issued.

It's just looking for your Name, Address, email and the number of tile sets and the extra paid survivors you require the rest will be in the CKPM
