Bill O'Reilly is done at Fox News, its parent company 21st Century Fox said Wednesday.
"After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Bill O'Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel," the company said in a statement.
O'Reilly was notified Wednesday that his run at Fox News would be coming to an end, according to a source with knowledge of the proceedings.
This is a turn of events that was unthinkable even three weeks ago, and it is unknown how O'Reilly will respond to Fox's decision. His representatives have not yet commented.
In a letter to employees, Rupert Murdoch and his sons Lachlan and James, who run 21st Century Fox, said the decision "follows an extensive review done in collaboration with outside counsel."
"By ratings standards, Bill O'Reilly is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news," the three wrote. "In fact, his success by any measure is indisputable. Fox News has demonstrated again and again the strength of its talent bench. We have full confidence that the network will continue to be a powerhouse in cable news.
"Lastly, and most importantly, we want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect."
Almost immediately after the announcement of O'Reilly's departure, Fox released its new, O'Reilly-less lineup, which will start Monday, the day O'Reilly had been scheduled to return from vacation.
Tucker Carlson will be moving from 9 p.m. to take over O'Reilly's 8 p.m. slot, while "The Five" will move to 9 p.m. with new co-host Jesse Watters. Eric Bolling, who had been a co-host of "The Five," is taking the 5 p.m. hour by himself, though his new show will not debut until May 1.
O'Reilly's departure was precipitated by a New York Times story earlier this month which reported that O'Reilly, Fox and 21st Century Fox had reached settlements totaling $13 million with five women who had accused O'Reilly of sexual harassment or verbal abuse. In the wake of the Times' report, at least 60 advertisers told Fox to remove their commercials from "The O'Reilly Factor."
Liberal groups which had long opposed O'Reilly, and had been pushing advertisers to join the boycott, celebrated the news Wednesday.
"Advertisers fled because they immediately recognized what Fox News has ignored for over a decade: that serial sexual harassment is not only wrong, but bad for business. Without advertisers, Bill O'Reilly's show was no longer commercially viable. Fox News had no choice but to fire O'Reilly. Accountability came from the outside, not from within," Media Matters for America president Angelo Carusone said in a statement.

I wonder what his next move will be. Is he able to survive online among even louder, brasher a-holes peddling his brand of "news" like Breitbart, Infowars, and Rebel Media?
Actually, i could see him ending up at Breitbart.

So happy to see him go. He was basically a pre-Trump for Fox.
Also, I find it hilarious they use the term "accomplished TV personality". Yeah, a monkey butler throwing his own feces would generate just as many views and just as much nonsense.

I watched a few of the heated discussions he had with folks where he'd just shut off their mics and then yell at them for being an idiot while they could not respond.
What a great guy.

You guys all forget how much he helped this country. He was like a soothing balm in those mindless days of anger post 9/11, when the whole world was going through a Frank Miller phase.
Shame about him not fading away when he could have been a pleasant memory.

Way to drag the proud and noble herotage of faeces-slinging monkey butlers through the mud.

He wasn't always like that on his show. He did get too big for his britches though.

This will always be Bill O'Reilly in my head. LONG before he was on Fox News.

An unexpected turn of events. First Ailes then O'Reilly.
Not that anything of value was lost really, but interesting nonetheless.
EDIT: the fact that Tucker Carlson is replacing his slot disappoints me greatly, if for no other reason than I live in the same planet as people who would actually pay money for the bowtie guy to do what he does. After being manhandled by John Stewart, as a guest no less, on Crossfire, one would think that would make for a poor resume.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights! The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

O'Reilly WISHES he had their talent.
You're right, apologies to all the proud monkey butlers of yore.

White House Press Sec?
Russia Today (RT)??
Sadly, he'd probably be more competent than Spice Man.

Hey... at least Fox has more integrity than the Presidential elections.

Tuck has been doing great... His show is the only one that I'll watch, since megan kelly left.
His greatest asset now is that he lets his guests repeatedly violate the Rule of Holes™.

Both good suggestions.

A malfunctioning Speak n' Spell would be more competent than Cringer Spice.

I havent seen anything of his of late, but violating said rule himself used to be something of a trademark of his...
That said, I really can't think of a cable TV talking head I can stand listening to at all. Not Carlson, not Maddow, not O'Reilly, or any others that I cann recall. I think the fundamental nature of that show just instantly enrages me on general principle.

I will occasionally watch Don Lemon if nothing else is on, and there was a British guy that did this BBC show with reporters from different countries sitting around-the different views were illuminating.
Straight talking head shows...nah (ok does Tosh.0 count?) I saw two minutes of that Tucker Carlson and wanted to shove his head into a toilet. Same reaction I have to Madow.

Is John Oliver a talking head show? He's fantastic.

Sort of. The difference being he seems to know/care what he is actually talking about. The CNN folks, the Fox folks the MSNBC folks really seem to be there to collect their paycheck.
I'd say Oliver is a comedy. I'd also step and say the talking head roundtable shows are different, as are the Sunday morning shows.
I'd equate these more as the AM radio monologers.

I will always remember the day that Bill O'Reilly checkmated those atheists:
O’Reilly: I’ll tell you why [religion is] not a scam, in my opinion. Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that. You can’t explain why the tide goes in.
Silverman: Tide goes in, tide goes out?”
O’Reilly: The water, the tide--it comes in and it goes out. It always goes in, then it goes out. … You can’t explain that. You can’t explain it.
Atheists: 0
God & Bill O'Reilly: 1
Fast forward to the 1:50 mark, the poor guys face really says it all.

Agreeing to come on his show, first mistake. Arguing with Bill O' Reilly, second mistake. The guy is a living wall of ignorance.

Please use an emoticon to indicate sarcasm. I almost thought you were serious. Would have needed to watch O'Reilly play Battletoads to cleanse the palate.
